Engaged Alison Brie never wanted to marry
Actress Alison Brie had no intentions of ever walking down the aisle until she fell in love with Dave Franco.
The How to Be Single star admits she was never the kind of girl to dream about her wedding day as a child, and after deciding to pursue a "crazy" career in Hollywood, she wrote off her chances of ever settling down.
"I never wanted to get married," she told the New York Post. "I was
just like, 'Well, that's not my path in life, because I'm choosing
this crazy lifestyle.'"
However, that all changed once she met James Franco's younger
brother, who made the 33-year-old realize there was more to life
than work.
"I fell in love," Alison smiled. "So, blah blah blah, amazing.
Acting is fulfilling, but it's also not the only thing."
The couple began dating in 2012 and she reveals the actors
immediately hit it off because they share a love of laughter.
"You know how 'there are no bad kissers', it's just all about
compatibility? I feel the same way about a sense of humor," she
explained.
Neighbors star Dave proposed to Alison in August (15), popping the
question with a unique rose gold diamond engagement ring from
California jewelry designer Irene Neuwirth.
Alison may be happy with Dave now, but she recently revealed she
missed out on the chance to date another funnyman, Jason Sudeikis,
after her Community creator Dan Harmon tried to play matchmaker and
set the pair up.
"We never dated but prior to this movie, about four or five years
ago, Dan... texted me one day and was just like, 'Would you mind if
I set you up with Jason Sudeikis?'" Alison recalled on talk show
The View in September (15), "and I was like, 'No, that sounds
great!' And then 20 minutes later, he's like, 'Oh, never mind, he's
seeing someone'."
It's not known exactly when the blind date was discussed, but Jason
began dating another actress, Olivia Wilde, in late 2011. They
became engaged in 2013 and welcomed son Otis in 2014.
Alison and Jason were able to laugh about the missed connection
after working together on 2015 romantic comedy Sleeping with Other
People.
