Dido battled secret morning sickness during recording sessions
Dido suffered from crippling nausea while recording her long-awaited fourth album Girl Who Got Away, but managed to keep her pregnancy a secret from studio staff.
The White Flag hitmaker is famously protective of her private life, and managed to keep the birth of her son Stanley quiet for months after his arrival in July 2011.
And she was so secretive about her impending motherhood that she
battled sickness and strange cravings during recording sessions for
her latest work without anyone guessing she was expecting.
She tells Britain's Daily Mail, "I recorded almost all my vocals
while I was pregnant. My brother knew but I didn’t tell anyone
else. And I was feeling absolutely awful. All I could eat was egg
sandwiches but nobody noticed anything was up.
"Singing when you feel as if you’re about to throw up isn’t fun,
but it was interesting. I also recorded a lot of the material in
the weeks just before Stanley was born, when he was kicking like
crazy inside me.
"It got to the point where I thought I was going to fall over. As I
got closer to giving birth, I was so breathless that I could barely
get through a line. Never mind singing, I couldn’t get up the
stairs."
