Court refuses to dismiss Paul Walker guardianship case
Paul Walker's mother's bid to end her battle for guardianship of the actor's daughter Meadow has been scuppered by a judge.
The tragic star's mum Cheryl Walker filed papers for temporary and permanent guardianship of the 15 year old in Los Angeles Superior Court in March (14), claiming Meadow was at risk because her mother, Rebecca Soteros, had been struggling with alcoholism.
The two parties subsequently reached an out-of-court agreement, and
Cheryl decided to drop the case last month (14).
However, Commissioner David Cowan refused to dismiss the
guardianship case on Wednesday (30Apr14), saying, "It is up to the
court to decide whether (a) guardianship case should be granted or
denied."
He appointed an attorney for Meadow and ordered an investigation,
the findings of which will be heard at the next hearing, scheduled
for 28 May (14).
In the actor's will, the Fast & Furious star, who died in a car
crash in November (13), stated he wanted his mother to become
Meadow's guardian in the event of his premature death.
