Claire Danes studies bipolar sufferers online to perfect her portrayal of top C.I.A. agent Carrie Mathison in TV drama Homeland.

The actress has won much acclaim for the role and she puts it all down to the amount of research she does.

She tells WENN, "I've got a stack of books by the bed - madness, bipolar I and II, and, you know, sanity, insanity, and I watch a lot of confessionals on YouTube.

"People who have this condition, bipolar, are often up late at night and have a lot of energy and a desire to talk and no one to talk to, so they talk to the camera and that's always very useful."
