Chief Keef to host benefit concert for slain toddler
Rapper Chief Keef is hosting a benefit concert for a toddler who was killed by the same gunman who allegedly shot the MC's friend and fellow rapper Capo on Saturday (11Jul15).
Capo, 22, real name Marvin Carr, was gunned down and killed in Chicago, Illinois, and less than 30 minutes later, the suspect allegedly drove on to a sidewalk a few miles away from the initial crime scene, and hit one-year-old Dillan Harris with his car, according to The Chicago Tribune.
Harris was later pronounced dead, and after hearing the news of
both tragedies, Chief Keef, a Chicago native, has decided to use
his music for good.
The newspaper reports that Keef will headline the free concert in
the city on 17 July (15), with any donations received during the
event going towards the toddler's family.
A spokesman for the rapper tells The Chicago Tribune Keef "is just
so heartbroken and appalled", and is eager to do some good after
the "out of control situation."
However, Keef will reportedly attend the show via hologram from a
soundstage in Los Angeles where he currently lives, due to the fact
he has outstanding arrest warrants in Chicago.
In addition to the concert, Keef has also launched an organization
called the Stop the Violence Now Foundation, which aims to put a
stop to the crime epidemic in his hometown.
