Beyonce set for hometown monument
Pop star Beyonce looks set looks to be honored with a monument in her hometown of Houston, Texas.
Developers at Armdeonce Ventures are designing a statue which will highlight the singer's life and showcase memorabilia from her career.
CEO of the company, Marcus Mitchell, tells My Fox Houston, "Our
biggest thing is a lot of people get honored when they die, so our
goal is to why not honor people why they're still here? We felt as
though it’s her time to be honored. We wanted to construct,
like, a massive hall so as the doors open, if you donated to the
monument, you'll have a separate nameplate.
"There will be clips of Beyonce with Destiny’s Child and
wardrobe like a mini museum. We’ve gotten support from the
city of Houston, from the mayor."
Proceeds from the site will be donated to a number of charitable
organisations, including Music for America and Beyonce's Survivor
Foundation, which offers relief to victims of natural
disasters.
Bosses are hoping to unveil the project on 4 September (12) - the
same day as Beyonce's birthday.
