Ansel Elgort debuts solo single

Ansel Elgort has released his debut solo single.

The Fault in Our Stars actor premiered the track, titled Home Alone, on Friday (08Jul16). Earlier this week, the 22-year-old also released a cover of Shawn Mendes' Treat You Better.

Ansel has been performing as a DJ under the moniker Ansolo for a few years and in 2014, he signed his first record deal. He subsequently began producing electronic dance music. However, this is the first song in which Ansel shows off his vocals, and he also released it under his real name.

"Music has always been a big part of my life... and then I realized this whole electronic dance music thing... so I started producing this dance music about four years ago and it's taken off just recently," he told Live! with Kelly and Michael in 2014.

And while, Elgort has found fame in Hollywood, many fans of his music had no idea that their favorite DJ is also a film star.

"The funny thing is, people that are into dance don't know that AnSolo is Ansel Elgort, because AnSolo is not that big," he continued. "I was just at Electric Zoo (music festival)... and there was these dance fans that were like, 'Oh, Ansolo, I love (the song) Totem...' and all these people kept coming up to me and asking for pictures and everyone was like, 'Dude, it's so crazy you only had, like, two or three releases and everyone wants pictures with you...'"
