Amy Schumer scores DJ Khaled jet ski ride with $50,000 donation
Comedienne Amy Schumer has landed herself a jet ski ride with Dj Khaled after donating $50,000 to Bono's (RED) AIDS charity for the prize.
The All I Do Is Win hitmaker offered up the water adventure for one lucky fan and a guest on fundraising website Omaze.com, on which fans can gain entry to competitions for once-in-a-lifetime experiences by giving as little as $10 to benefit a specific charity.
A representative for (RED) tells BusinessInsider.com Amy was
inspired to dig deep on Thursday (01Dec16), World AIDS Day, after
watching the hip-hop producer announce the lottery during a recent
appearance on U.S. talk show Jimmy Kimmel Live!, and instead of
just entering her into the competition, Khaled decided to thank the
Trainwreck star for her generous gift by vowing to give her a
personal jet ski ride.
Up to $6 million in donations made on Thursday was matched 10 to 1
by officials at the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, meaning Amy's
contribution is now worth $500,000 .
The DJ Khaled Omaze competition will remain open to the general
public until 18 January (17).
Ironically, the beatmaker hit headlines a year ago (Dec15) when he
got lost at sea on his jet ski after paying a visit to his rap pal
Rick Ross at his waterfront mansion in Florida. The producer
documented the whole drama on his favorite social media site,
Snapchat.
Khaled's prize for the (RED) charity push, which aims to provide
funds to further research into finding a cure for the disease, is
one of a number of all-star experiences up for grabs.
Fans can also donate to try and win the chance to have tea with
Julia Roberts, meet Channing Tatum at the premiere of his upcoming
Magic Mike Live strip show in Las Vegas, and join One Direction
star Liam Payne for a recording session.
Other celebrities participating in the Omaze initiative include
Bono's band U2, The Killers, Halsey, and Neil Patrick Harris.
