Tyler Posey & Lucy Hale Reveal How Their Romance Scene Really Happened

Yeah. It's still as cute as ever here. It's very cute, isn't it? Yeah, and it's comfy and cozy. It's really funny because how you guys are sitting, I can only see one eye from Tyler and I can just say I can only see one eye from you.

Oh. Well, sorry about my big head. You know what I mean. I was always in the 90th percentile of head circumference when I was a baby, so I really do have a large head.

She did tell us that when we first met her. It's more brains. It's cool.

I feel like I've been told I got a big head too, so. Maybe it's I take it as a compliment.

Yeah, I do. I just feel like I have a really tiny head.

How did you react when you guys got this role?

I remember working really hard for this audition. The audition scene was my big monologue scene in the movie that everyone will hopefully see. Yeah, I was so excited because like usually the auditions I work really hard at, I don't get. So, I had like emotionally invested a lot in this. So, I was very excited. Really excited to work with Jeff. Tyler kind of came on last minute. There was originally another actor but because of his schedule this didn't work out. So, I was like super excited that I finally got to work with Tyler.

Yeah. I mean, when I found out I was going to do this character, I thought it was really cool. I thought he was uh sort of similar to like other characters that I played, but different enough to where I was like really excited to to jump on it and and kind of dive into it. But uh he's just a cool dude. Yeah. And he's likable and, you know, who doesn't like being liked?

That's true. Right? Right? And you're liked by two girls in the movie.

In the movie, I'm liked by two girls. That is true. I know. Wow, what a dream role, huh?

Markie's constantly cheating on Lucas. It's true. Markie. Lucas. Wait. Markie, I don't know what's going on. I'm serious. I'm seeing things. Touch me again and I'll break that hand.

Speaking of the weird face. Yes. Yes. There's a weird face, isn't it? There is a weird. Yeah. Do you guys know why that face was chosen to depict the demon?

Well, our director Jeff Wadlow says he like doodled this growing up or something weird. I'm like, "Why are you doodling demons?" That's super weird. Uh but he had just created it in his head and um had to explain it to the best of his ability because we obviously couldn't see it when we're filming. Um and basically we just had to put our chin all the way down and smile as big as possible and look dead behind the eyes.

Oh, wow. That's really intense.

It's a lot harder than you would think, but Tyler has it down. Try it.

I love it. Well, it is I was going to ask because Tyler, you look like almost like it's like legit. She's like, "That looks like your real face." No, it just looks like with Lucy, you guys's scene, the romantic scene particularly. I can tell there's like definitely some CGI and distortion going on but Tyler, yours is really good. I have to say.

Yeah. I think it's Take it as a compliment. It's like your acting skills are great.

Yes. No, no, no, no, no. I'm just kidding.

No, it was great. It was great. I do want to talk about that scene though because it is a really tender moment, especially for your character. Yes. But then it gets really dark. There's some choking going on and like. Yeah, so.

That was I requested that.

You did. Yeah, you would you kinky.

I was like No, so like sex scenes are all or love scenes, whatever people call them these days. They're already super weird and uncomfortable and not sexy just because it's so technical. You're like trying to find your camera and your light and whatever. So, on top of that, like my my sex scene was also my possessed scene. Right. So, I will never shoot anything like that ever again in my life or career. Yeah, it was definitely weird and I'm like, "This is not going to go over well." Uh but it did. It It turned out, you know, it's in the trailer, it's pretty creepy.

Yeah. Truth or dare? See, you did it. He did the face again. You just have like a very grinny grin. Grinny

Grinny grin. There you go. I love it. Because you have a tiny head. So, it's like that Instagram filter that your mouth just gets big and it makes your face. Oh, yeah. That's kind of what I thought of. Yeah. It's me. Yeah. And then lastly, before we go out, do you guys have any weird like irrational fears? Any that came from the film after seeing it or any before?

There used to be this thing that people would say that you swallow four to five spiders a year because you sleep with your mouth open and spiders crawl in your mouth and that became a very irrational fear in my young adult life.

That could happen though. No. But so it's not irrational, right? That can happen. Technically. I mean, if you live in like the woods.

Yeah. It is possible, Tyler. Not saying it actually happens to you, but it is possible. So, I don't know if it's irrational. I feel like I'm stressing you out right now.

Yes. He's really concerned. I mean, this is what I say in every interview about an irrational fear. Slowly losing my mind, but not realizing it and thinking everyone else is crazy, but they're not crazy. They're sane. You're the insane one. Ooh, that would be rough. But it's very possible that that could happen to me in my life, so.
