Oh, hi. I'm David, and I'm here at Young Hollywood, trying to make this, uh, rather normal entrance. I've never filmed myself upon entering a studio before. So, hey, they have a bar.
And we're rolling. Hi! Hi, how are you? Great to have you here.
Thank you so much, good to be here.
So, before, you said you love the studio. I'm just I'm just playing you with compliments.
Yeah, I know it's amazing. I I've never walked Usually, someone has a little studio like in North Hollywood, and it's very little, and they don't have a bar at the top of the four seasons next to a pool with a ton of great people. It's amazing.
We're great people, too. I love that you threw that in there.
Yeah, nice. And and beautiful people.
Wow. Why are you pointing over there? Why are you pointing over here? All around, all around. Okay, so let's talk about Grown Ups 2. First of all, I need to learn the handshake.
Yes, yes. It's like the whole That was like made up on the spot. I remember Taylor and uh Milo were like thinking of something Friday to do. They were just like doing all sorts of weird stuff. And literally, it just evolves from like one little thing to Long. That's rock, paper, scissors. I think it's over. All right. Hey, hey, hey. What, what, what? What? Just a little extra right there.
Uh, fellas, that was a good handshake. We got a good one, too. It goes like this. Okay, here we go. Oh, how you doing, sir? Very good, sir. Well, this film, it's like an old school versus like the new generation. They brought in
Yes.
Things have changed. Things have changed since then. And you I play one of the frat kids, sort of like jerky type of characters. So how much fun did you have playing a jerk?
It was great. Messing with those boys. Very fun, very fun. Those guys are so cool. Like, I mean, it just all happens very, very naturally.
Well, of all those guys, like Kevin and Chris and David and who's the most intimidating? Like, who when you first walked on set?
Yeah, so nice. Um, David Spade is is like at first when you're talking to him, you're not sure what he's thinking. And then, like, the more you talk to him, he's a crack to you. You're not sure if he's like trying to mess with you a little bit. But then, the more you talk to him, like, he he is really cool. He's a crack to him. Yeah.
Wait, you have a David Spade story, I heard.
My family went to high school with David Spade. My aunts went to high school with David Spade. And I brought up the name in front of him, and he knew it. But it wasn't I wasn't sure if it was a pleasant memory or not a pleasant memory. Yes. He was playing it cool. He was playing it cool. I think he might have dated one of my aunts. So, Shocker. Just saying. Yeah.
Wow. So, what what did she say he was like in high school?
Very funny. He was like I think he was like a class president or body coroner or something like that. So, he did.
Really? Well, we talked to him recently. And he did say he was very smart, self-proclaimed. He's like I was very smart. I'm very smart. I've been very smart for a long time. Okay, so we have a picture. It's behind you on the monitor, over your shoulder.
Oh, got you.
From Okay, so this was just released. Now, this is actually you as a child.
That that is me. Yep, with the rat tail. Oh, my god, I'm back then. Wow. What was my parents thinking?
Can I just say I have a few things to say about this picture.
Yes, I do too.
Okay, you know how certain people look exactly the same, just older? You look like a completely Like, I don't even believe that's you. Completely different person. And because you are so fit, I can say this, you had a little pop belly.
I had a little pop belly.
Okay, so what as a kid, what did you get in trouble for the most?
Uh just destroying the house. I put like I dig big holes and make them Jacuzzis in the backyard. And it just flooded the whole backyard. It was terrible. I'd get in such trouble. But it was a lot of fun at the time.
Was that bad? It wasn't just like a little tiny like toy shovel kind of thing.
No, no. The worst was uh my my dad was having palm trees planted in the backyard. And the day before the palm trees get there, there's just these gaping holes.
Oh, so that was your playground.
That was And I literally was like "Papa made me little Jacuzzis." So, I went and got the hose, filled them all up, and was just jumping from one to the other.
And did you go in them and sit in the mud?
Oh, yeah. It was great. Yeah. My cousins, we got everyone. We had mud fights, and then it just literally destroyed the entire backyard.
Wow. And in the spirit of the movie, what's what's sort of like the the most grown-up thing you've done this week and the least grown-up thing you've done this week?
I actually have a good one. Okay. The most grown-up thing I've done this week is I purchased a house. And and I felt Yeah.
That is more grown up than I can even deal with right now.
The the least grown-up thing is we went to a furniture store, and I literally bought everything in like a 10-minute span.
Oh, no.
And then and then I was going to give my credit card. My mom was like, "What are you doing? It's like, you need to go to six other stores. You need to take all the measurements. You don't even know your color scheme. It's like, do you know the style of your home?" I was like, "Modern." She was like, "No. It's mid-century. And you have to do this and that."
So, you're a homeowner. That is so grown-up.
I am a homeowner.
Now, what's it like being close with these guys? Because So cool. When I talk to them, I asked them like because most guys in America want to like hang out with those boys. They want to be you. They want to be able to hang out with those dudes and know what it's like. And they actually said it's like really lame these days. That back in the day, the Saturday Night Live days, it was wild. But now, they're like in at home by 10:00. It's crazy. They got families and stuff. Yeah. So, what was it like for you?
They were so nice. Like literally, the day that I got there, they were shooting. So, I went to set to see them and meet everyone. And they're sitting around smoking cigars, like while they're lighting. And they're honestly like just good, humble, nice guys who get to make movies as their job with their best friends.
With their friends, yeah. So, are you in the are you in the boys' club now?
Officially feel like I think I got invited to play ball. And I think when you get invited to play basketball, that's like the in. He only shoots like literally, they picked the location if it's close to a basketball court. So, like at lunch, all the guys go play basketball. So, I got invited to go play on that.
Oh, you mean on set? Yeah. Now, another thing that they said, they said these days, they don't do carbs. Like they go out and they get the, you know, the sandwich without the bun.
Oh, yeah, it's really funny. Kevin J Yeah, I went to get pizza, and he's like, "All right. I'm only having two slices of pizza." Or crust. He's like, literally, just two slices of pizza, that's it. He's like, "Normally, I'd polish off half of his table, but I'm having two slices of pizza." So, he gets the two slices of pizza. He orders a side of meatballs like this much, puts them on the two slices of pizza. And he's like, "Yeah, I just had two slices of pizza with six pounds of meatballs on."
It's all protein.
Yeah, it's all protein.
And what about you? Because you're in such good shape. Like if you're going to Let's say you're going to Subway. Right. What do you get on your sandwich? Are you getting bread?
You get the flatbread. Okay. Flatbread. It's just good.
All right. And what do you get on it?
Okay. And you do the chicken. Double up the chicken. Throw a little throw a little, uh, salt and pepper on there.
I love how you just kind of broke into an accent when you just said that.
Uh I get a little Italian when I talk about food. You get a little to your roots. Yeah, yeah. I'm I'm Italian. So.

Flip. That's what popped into my head was flip. They were talking about that. How you can do a backflip on the spot. Yeah, I'm lit We're literally shooting this one scene where a bunch of cars pull up and and Adam was like, "It's good. The scene was good. But can you just like flip twist off of uh the car?" And he was like, "Yeah, yeah, I can do that." And he literally steps up on the hood of the car and then just boom flips off.
And he's like, "Yeah, let's shoot it."
