Young Hollywood

Hey, what's up, guys? We're hanging out in the Young Hollywood studio with Milo Ventimiglia.

Milo Ventimiglia

Hey, how's it going?

Young Hollywood

It's going. It's going. How are you?

Milo Ventimiglia

I'm doing great.

Young Hollywood

I'm a little nervous because I was just telling

Milo Ventimiglia

Why are you nervous?

Young Hollywood

my family's like such a big fan of you. And I'm like

Milo Ventimiglia

It's okay.

Young Hollywood

But I said, like, hey. Say hi to Kelly and Lisa.

Milo Ventimiglia

Yeah, hi Kelly and Lisa.

Young Hollywood

Um, congratulations on all your success with This Is Us. And now this new movie with Jennifer Lopez. How exciting!

Milo Ventimiglia

It's all super exciting.

Jennifer Lopez

Every manager at our company has a college degree. The only thing stopping you is you. Your resume interests me. Wharton Business School? I'm sorry, what? And of course, you have got to see her Facebook page. My Facebook page? Obama. I gave you a completely new identity. You said you wanted to be fancy, so I just like Cinderella'd your ass. A lie got you in the door. Well, you got the job, baby. It's not easy getting a job for a woman your age. Oh. Watch me. I'm going to be your hero. Tryna save the day. Oh.

Young Hollywood

Is it true she requested you specifically for this role?

Milo Ventimiglia

That's what I hear. People keep telling me that. And I don't know if people think that I need like some, you know,

Young Hollywood

But you don't know for sure?

Milo Ventimiglia

ego boosting or anything. But actually no, you know, I take it back. Jennifer did say. She goes, "I only wanted you."

Young Hollywood

That's so cool.

Milo Ventimiglia

I was like, wow. That's nice. She must have been through the all the list of every young guy in in town and like, everybody was busy. I guess we'll call Milo.

Young Hollywood

That's really a compliment. That's exciting.

Milo Ventimiglia

Yeah. Yeah, it is. It's nice.

Young Hollywood

So what was it like to work with her? I know she's very a very hard worker, very passionate about what she does.

Milo Ventimiglia

Very passionate, very hard work. But at the same time, like, flawlessly present. Like, she's she's she's just there in the scene, looking you in the eye, prepared, but not having a game plan or a road map of how it's gonna go. She's open to the experience of what you're gonna find when the cameras are rolling.

Young Hollywood

And what did you like about playing your character specifically?

Milo Ventimiglia

Working with her. Really? Yeah. No, I mean, I like hanging out with her. No, that's day. That's the truth, you know. Getting getting to work with Jennifer was was was great. You know, I I hope to do it again. It was so great. She's cool and she's kind and she's fun and she's inspiring. And because of her work level, she demands that level of everybody else. But in a way that you're inspired to rise to her level because she really is just so great.

Young Hollywood

And it's a film very much about faking it until you make it. Have you ever had to do that yourself in your own life in any situation? Like feel like you're faking it till you make it.

Milo Ventimiglia

Feel like it probably happens, you know, even to this day, last week, or anything like that. You know, there are moments in life where you're not too confident about what you're going into. But I think at this point and 41 years I've been on this planet. I'm like, no, I feel pretty good about going into situations or work or personal or anything and and know that I just need to be myself.

Young Hollywood

Um, what is your process? How do you memorize your lines? How do you really get into a character? Do you do it at home? Put a little pot of tea on, get comfy. What do you like to do? How do you get into it?

Milo Ventimiglia

Um, for me, I kind of I try to understand what makes the men that I play like, what drives them, what propels them in life. What's something that they what are their beliefs? What are their wants out of their own life? But also, I've got a road map with a script. So for me, it's kind of learn your lines, prepare that side of an emotional state for whatever scene I'm playing and then just be present. Be open to the experience of what's gonna happen because if you make a plan as an actor, then when things take a different direction, you're not listening to who you're in the scene with. Then all of a sudden, your plan goes out the window. So I try to just prepare as much as I can with whatever emotional state I need to be in, know my lines.

Young Hollywood

Okay. So I'm stalking your Instagram. And you like classic cars.

Milo Ventimiglia

I do like classic cars, yeah.

Young Hollywood

Okay. So I'm just gonna throw out a scenario at you, and you tell me what car would be good for that situation. Okay, great. And we'll just do rapid fire.

Milo Ventimiglia

Cool.

Young Hollywood

Okay. You're fleeing from the paparazzi. What's your getaway car?

Milo Ventimiglia

Um, what about your motorcycle? Don't you drive a motorcycle?

Young Hollywood

Oh my god. I didn't realize we could use bikes on this. That would be good too. Okay. That's not a car technically. Sorry. By the way.

Milo Ventimiglia

Okay, cool. Vehicle, vehicle. Um, yeah, 100% a motorcycle. But at the same time, you know, you gotta put your helmet on, you gotta put your gloves on, you gotta do that. But the best part is if you put your helmet on before you walk out of said establishment to get away, they don't know if that's you or not, maybe.

Young Hollywood

Okay. First date with a beautiful woman, what are you gonna pick her up in?

Milo Ventimiglia

Motorcycle. Yeah. A motorcycle, sure. It's exciting, it's fun. She's got a hold on tight.

Young Hollywood

Yeah. Last one and make it count. J. Lo needs a new ride. What are you gonna choose for her?

Milo Ventimiglia

What am I gonna choose for her? How would you help her pick her one out? If you had to pick a car for J. Lo, what could you see her driving? You know, I think everybody would want to put her in some kind of luxurious something. But I want her to be comfortable. I want her to be safe. I want her to feel like this is something she can be in for a while.

Young Hollywood

Are we still talking about cars here?

Milo Ventimiglia

I'm All right. I know. Here I am falling in love with Jennifer all over again. I've seen her driving in different cars. And I feel like she she rides in like something different. So

Young Hollywood

Well, perfect. That's a great answer. Thank you so much for hanging out. Congratulations on all your success.

Milo Ventimiglia

Appreciate it.
