About this video

In the 6 seasons that it's been on the air, TV Land's "Younger" has explored all kinds of scenarios relating to love, relationships, and dating, and it's no surprise to find out that even the actors themselves have had their fair share of unique experiences in the romance department as well! Young Hollywood heads to Viacom Press Day where we sit down with two stars from the hit series, Nico Tortorella and Molly Bernard, to get their thoughts on some of these issues, such as being in love with 2 people at the same time, the somewhat misunderstood state of polyamory and open relationships, and whether or not timing really is everything. They also discuss dating in a big city like New York and what lessons they hope younger viewers will take away from the show, plus they describe the new season in one facial expression!

Young Hollywood

What's up, guys? Hanging with me right now. I have Nico and Molly from Younger. Hi, Nicole. How are you?

Younger's Nico Tortorella

Good. How are you guys doing?

Young Hollywood

Good. Good. So excited. Season six. How does it feel?

Younger's Nico Tortorella

Great. So good. So cute. I can't believe I can't believe that we are in our sixth season. It's crazy. Insane. Who would? I I could have never predicted this. I mean, it had everything going for it. It had the cast. It had Darren, you know, it had the network that was really fighting for us from day one. And most importantly, it had the fan base, so it makes sense to me.

Molly Bernard

Right? Same. Yeah, it wouldn't be possible without our fans, though. We love we love our fans. They're so die-hard and like

Younger's Nico Tortorella

They are. I feel like we're on um Game of Thrones.

Molly Bernard

Oh, I don't I don't feel like we're on Game of Thrones. Why? Explain further. I'm very jealous.

Younger's Nico Tortorella

Because fans of Game of Thrones are like that, you know, like I'm a

Molly Bernard

Oh, okay. Yeah. Yeah.

Young Hollywood

So, I know you guys can't share too much about what's coming next for season six. Although I wish you could, but we came up with some fun questions regarding like love and relationships that kind of relate to the show. So, I wanted to just get your opinion.

Molly Bernard

Yeah. Right? Here we go.

Young Hollywood

Okay. Do you think you can be in love with two people at once?

Younger's Nico Tortorella

Yeah, duh. You can be in love with more than one person, two people, multiple people. Yes, absolutely. I think love is is is exponential. Um, and it is like an ever-glowing flame that just can be passed on from person to person.

Molly Bernard

I'm obsessed with you. What about you, Molly? Um, I feel like you can definitely love two people. Um, although I have never practiced, uh, polyamory, so I think it would be hard for me to be in a relationship with like two separate relationships with two separate people. It's a lot of work. Trust, communication, honesty, come first.

Young Hollywood

I know, Nico. You get a lot of great responses from your fans about like speaking openly about your book with um All of it is You, and your relationships and stuff like that. So, can you speak more on that? Like what the fan response has been?

Younger's Nico Tortorella

Yeah, you know, it's it's interesting. It was kind of like, uh, another coming out of sorts talking about being in an open relationship and practicing polyamory because it's so taboo in the in in the world, right? People are very afraid of it. Yeah, because people are are at that caveman mentality of of ownership, right? Is still so strong. I mean, it's everything that we've always been taught. A relationship has to look like one thing when alternate relationships have existed since the beginning of time, right? And so I think this is just actually like a reawakening of alternative practices through the social media revolution.

Molly Bernard

Mhm. And I will say like I'm fairly close with Nico and Bethany, their spouse. And um, the two of them have like one of the healthiest relationships I've ever witnessed and been a part of. So, it's you two are very inspiring.

Young Hollywood

I agree. I follow you two on Instagram. Your Instagram stories are so cute. It's so real. Like when I was at your house a couple weeks ago, It was just like, this is they Full Instagram story in real life.

Molly Bernard

Yeah. Yeah. Yes. So fun.

Young Hollywood

Okay, next one. Do you have any tips for dating in a big city like New York?

Molly Bernard

Like on the show. New York, you can just go on endless adventures. And my favorite kind of date to go on is do something in New York with my partner that neither of us have done before.

Younger's Nico Tortorella

Even living in a big city, it's especially New York, it's very easy to become isolated in your relationship. I think when we like live in these little apartments stacked on top of each other in New York, we It's it's it's it's just not difficult to just stay home all the time. And I think it's so important like Molly said to just explore. I think we take New York City for granted living there and there's just so much um to offer. And but that is everywhere. That's just not New York City, you know, just get out of the house. Go go explore. Get off your phone. Go play.

Molly Bernard

Yeah. Go.

Young Hollywood

Do you believe in timing needing to be perfect? So, you know the whole like right person, wrong timing situation. Do you guys have a stance on that whole debate?

Molly Bernard

I do. I believe in it. God. Thank you for being my microphone holder. Um, I totally believe in that. Maybe it's because I feel like that I've had that experience where I've definitely dated um the right people at the right time and that didn't work out. Or and I've dated the wrong people at the right time, the right people at the wrong time. But now I'm in like my prime I'm in my prime time. There you go. Um but I found my person and that's like um a tremendous relief. And it was just I I had the least amount of anxiety I've ever had in my life when I met my partner. And I feel very lucky because I met the person I had been waiting for for a very long time. And I think it timing was a huge part of it.

Younger's Nico Tortorella

Totally. I mean, I've had some of the most just like incredible Disney love sagas that have ever existed in my life. And I have lost some of the most incredible people I've ever met, uh, because it just wasn't the right time. You know? And it my heart is still broken. But we create our own time as well, you know?

Molly Bernard

See, that's where I go on like the the debate. It's it's both. Like so, we can control the timing a little bit, right? And then there's like a greater

Younger's Nico Tortorella

Well, it's also, I mean, I think it really just comes down to how you're taking care of yourself and where that energy is being directed. Uh, because I'm a firm believer that we take care of other people the exact same way we take care of ourselves. And if you're not stepping up to the plate, you know, for your person, you can't step up for anyone else. And vice versa, if you have, you know, a lack of self-care or self-respect, how can you do it for someone else? It's exactly what I just said.

Molly Bernard

You guys are marrying each other. Sure. I love you.

Younger's Nico Tortorella

Listen, if you can't love yourself, how in the hell are you going to love somebody else? Can I get an amen? We're just quoting RuPaul right now. That's all we're doing.

Young Hollywood

Okay, last one in the in the love questions here. This is about the show specifically. What are your opinions on difference in age? It matters or it doesn't.

Younger's Nico Tortorella

Like if if you want it to matter, it's going to matter. If if, you know, and you you can control that, I think. You fall in love with who you fall in love with or your lover is who your lover is. You don't also all every person you sleep with or have a four-month love affair with, you don't have to end up with. When I was 19, I was dating a 34-year-old for a couple years. And then I dated like a 60-year-old for a little bit. Uh, age is nothing.

Molly Bernard

I didn't know that.

Younger's Nico Tortorella

Yeah, age is is nothing. Um, I mean, in so many ways like I was the older person spiritually in the relationship, too. Um, I mean, we're really not that far apart, you know?

Molly Bernard

Yeah. And it's a good experience to be like on either side, I think. Totally. Yeah.

Young Hollywood

What do you hope the younger generation learns about life and love with this next season?

Molly Bernard

There's always time to to rewrite your story. There's a lot of clear communication this season. There's a particular event that happens between Josh and someone else that is just

Younger's Nico Tortorella

Astute.

Molly Bernard

an amazing example of clear communication in a relationship. But

Younger's Nico Tortorella

And it happens actually twice this season in a couple of different ways. So,

Young Hollywood

Oh, we can't wait.

Molly Bernard

Communicate, communicate, communicate, communicate. Yeah. Speak your truth.

Young Hollywood

Mhm. So, to end this interview, can you describe this season in one facial expression? Three, two, one. You guys did the same run. I love you. I love you. Cuties. All right, catch him on Younger, guys. Peace.
