What's up? I'm Gia Kim from XO Kitty and I'm with Young Hollywood today to play Heads Up.
What's up Young Hollywood? Today we're with a very special guest from XO Kitty, Gia Kim. Hi. You look amazing.
Thank you. You look lovely. I love the dress.
I love the dress.
Thank you. Thank you.
Okay, our audience loves XO Kitty.
Yay! Thank you so much.
So, we caught up with you at the red carpet or pink carpet?
Yes. Yes, the pink carpet, yeah.
And you kind of talked to us about XO Kitty and everything that was going into the show for like the five minutes that we had with you, but today we're going to play Heads Up.
Yes. I'm excited.
Have you played before?
Yes. It's been a while, but I know how to play.
Okay, it's all XO Kitty related. I told you this, so it should it should go over just fine.
Yeah, I hope so.
But it'll be fun and you'll have like 15 seconds to guess in between.
Okay, perfect.
And I'll go like we'll rotate. Okay. But we're also going to catch up with about all things XO Kitty because everybody wants to know a lot of questions that we're going to ask you.
Great.
Okay. But first before we start, when did you find out that you got the part as Yuri in XO Kitty and how long before you started taping?
Um, I found out so after I auditioned, which was in November, I found out early Feb, I want to say, because it took about two and a half months and then uh, we started shooting early April. Yeah, so there was a long process before we actually all started.
How did you know that your brother got the part too?
So I saw the cast call and then I sent it to him too because I was like, this part is perfect for you. You have to audition. And I auditioned first, but then he got confirmed first. So my wait was longer than his. So we were kind of keeping each other in the loop about what's happening. Like, oh, I got pinned. Oh, I got pinned too. Oh, I'm still waiting. Oh my God, they're, you know, it was like we were we were always in touch about that. So I knew that he was confirmed, um, for his role before I was.
No way, but he was you sent it to him. And that's the reason he auditioned.
Yeah, yeah, because I just knew it was like, oh my God, he can do this so well. Yeah.
That's crazy. Like he wouldn't maybe he wouldn't have got it without you. So he he owes his sister.
He knows. He knows.
Okay, I'll go first. You're going to guess the word. Okay. Okay. I don't know them, obviously. Okay, all right, okay. Okay. Oh God, I hope I get it. It's when you have a when you have a baby inside. Oh, pregnant. Yes. Okay, so there's a lot that's going on, obviously. We'll dissect each like scene, but for season two, do you know anything about a season two?
No, except I hope it's happening. Um, and obviously the fans, I think thanks to the fans, I think we might have a season two, but I don't know yet. And there's so many open-ended things in season one, as I'm sure you know, so I hope all those get answered in season two.
Yeah. Is there anything that you'd want to happen for Yuri? Like do you want her to maybe be with Kitty eventually and find out that Kitty likes Yuri?
Well, I love that Kitty has a thing for Yuri. I think that's amazing. I think that's really cute. And I wouldn't say I don't ship them, but at the same time, I would feel bad for Juliana if I ship them. So, I'm a little careful with who I'm shipping. I ship all the relationships in the show and all the love triangles that's happening. Yeah.
And how do you feel about Minho expressing his feelings though for Kitty on the plane?
Honestly, I was shocked because he also uses the word love, which I think is a very strong word. It's like, I think I'm in love with you. I'm like, what? You're in love? You actually hated her for like five minutes, so I don't know how that turned right to love. Not even like I like you. It's like I like I think I'm in love with you. We're like, what? It's it's a bit intense. But um, I think Minho and Kitty would be cute together too. So, we'll see.
It is funny that you bring it up because it's just like on in love. Like what about like? Like you have all these feelings for you. Just get over that. Like what about that part? It is crazy. Okay. So, we'll have to see. You have to let us know if there's a season two.
Yes, definitely. You will be the first to know.
Okay. Mhm. Ready?
Yeah. Oh, it's my turn. I'm going to try to get or I'll you're going to try to guess now. Okay. Okay, let's hope it's a good one. Okay, this is perfect. Okay, so we have it is a love interest in the show. Okay. It's your love interest. Juliana? Yeah. Oh, okay. Oh, that was easy. They're pretty they're pretty quick because it's so related. Yeah.
Okay, so you found out that you got the part, you went to Korea, you're on your way. Once you got there, who did you know from the cast already besides your brother? And how were the relationships?
Uh, I didn't know anyone except, you know, obviously I just met Anna and Minyoung through chemistry reads before on Zoom. So I hadn't really known anyone before that, um, except my brother, obviously. Um, and then we all met at the hotel lobby for the first time. I remember meeting Anna and her mom together at the same time. We just got to talking and everyone was so lovely. I just met everyone kind of individually in order after that. And I just remember thinking like, oh, this is a nice group of people I can I'm looking forward to working with. Yeah.
How long were you guys together in Korea?
Uh, about three and a half months, I want to say. Yeah.
Okay. And what did you guys do for fun?
Um, well, we had cookouts because we were all kind of staying at the same hotel. So we would just be like, let's meet at someone's room and have dinner together. Or there was a lot of eating options around the hotel as well. And we would just kind of take the foreign cast out to try different Korean cuisines like, oh, do you guys want to try this new stew thing that's here or do you want to try Korean chicken? You know, so we would just have a lot of eating, uh, eating together. Um, and there was a huge lake, uh, right by the hotel.
Oh, that sounds so fun.
Yeah, so we just like take a walk around and then just hang out. Yeah.
What were set hours usually like for you guys?
Um, it was pretty, I mean, I think I personally had full 12-hour days on set most of the time. And because we were already a bit behind schedule because so many people ended up getting COVID in the crew and the cast and like everyone had to quarantine. So that kind of pushed us back. So we were like, go, go, go on our work days. Um, but yeah, it was tiring but rewarding. Yeah.
Cuz everyone loves the show now. So it's like it's such payoff. So everything that your show blows up and everything. Yeah, yeah, yeah. And your brother and your social media. Insane.
My brother's is insane. But did you think that was actually going to happen because I really thought Day was going to be the one that everyone latched on to. Not that they wouldn't with him, but I don't I I didn't have any expectations. Like I didn't even expect to get recognized at all like for a while. My brother told me he got recognized the second day the show came out and then I was like, oh yeah, you have like so many followers already. And then the next day, like I'm wearing no makeup. I go to yoga and it's Starbucks and like people recognize them. I'm like, this is the third day the show has been out and I'm not I'm not ready. You know. Um, but yeah, his following is blowing up like crazy for sure.
So was yours though. Yours is too. But his following makes everyone's following look so ridiculous. He's literally about to hit two million. It's like what? He was like 50k when we interviewed him on the carpet. Oh my God. Yeah, and it hit a million on his birthday, which was like the fourth day. Yeah. Crazy. What what a great birthday gift. XO Kitty is a million followers on your birthday.
