What Happened at the GLOW Cast's Auditions

Hey, what's up guys? Young Hollywood is here at the London Hotel in Los Angeles where we are hanging out with the cast from the Netflix series Glow.

What's up guys? Good. Hi. What's up?

We're sharing a mic today. But you're a team, so that's okay. You're used to doing things together.

That's true.

So this show is so cool. It takes place in the 80s in LA, professional women's wrestling team, right?

Obviously. Uh, we're all like I don't know that we're professional. Yeah, that was my bomb. Like the word professional. Getting there to be professional. Getting there. We're trying. Learning steps. Yeah, yeah, yeah.

What's it like shooting in the 80s setting? Like I love these outfits you guys get to wear in these um, the teaser for the second season. I saw amazing outfits. I basically realized every 80s party that I went into, like went to at college, at a frat house, everyone was wrong in what they were wearing. Everyone was wrong. Like now I'm embarrassed to say that I basically went as Josh Brolin from The Goonies to every 80s party because that's what I thought 80s fashion was. And we just kill it on the show. What was your auditions like for this show? Cuz it's such a unique show and you're you're playing wrestlers. Did you have to wrestle in your audition or like do anything physical?

I did. So when I got the material, it literally said, do not come in with makeup. And I was like, oh, okay. And it was like, come in in leggings. So I was like, all right, they want to see a body. So I literally came in right after I came from the gym. And I walk in and every girl had makeup on. Red lips and I was like, did you guys What what happened? No one paid attention to do not wear makeup. And I was like, So in my my sides it said um, I was supposed to tumble, come up into a kick and then say freeze M Fer? Yeah, M Fer. And M Freeze, M Fer. And so it was literally

You're keeping it real PG.

Yeah. Stupid. Yeah, it really does. And it was literally a room like a box like this. And I was like literally looking and she's like, what are you doing? I was like, I'm timing it out. I think I can make this fit. And she's like, oh no, you don't have to do that. And I was like, she's like, nobody else has been doing it. I was like, oh no, I'm doing it. And she was like, oh, okay. So I literally did the tumble, I came up and I was like, freeze M Fer.

You did it.

Yeah, and she was like, you know, no one did that. And I was like, huh? I actually was the only girl who did an actual stunt audition um before I got cast with our wrestling coordinator, Chavo Guerrero Jr. and our stunt coordinator Shauna Duggins. And I walked in and they were like, okay, you're not on our insurance. We can't have you do too much. So in the back of my head, I'm like, what are we going to do? And in the back of my head, I'm like, do not leave this room without picking up one of these people. And Shauna, yeah, oh yeah, yeah, yeah. Oh, yes, and

Wait, what? How come we never heard that?

Oh, no, it's true fact.

So at the end of I believe it. I just never heard it.

At the end of the audition, Shauna was like, okay, thank you for coming in, like, we'll give Liz and Carly our like notes. And I just looked at her, I was like, Shauna, can you just jump into my arms? And she's like, you're not on our insurance. And I was like, I was a cheerleader. I know how to do this. Can you just jump? And Shauna, she's a stunt woman as well as a coordinator. She's amazing. So she just jumped in, literally I caught her, and she's like, I feel so secure.

What do your friends think of it? Like your friends and your family? Do you ever go home and say, look at this new wrestling move I can do? I feel like I'd be showing my family.

Oh, my friends and family just ask for my autograph all the time now. It's a headache. I can't even drive. I think they're, I mean, generally just super happy for us. And I don't I think for, I know for me again, like coming from I was such a theater kid and I think a lot of shows there's like one woman and then she's the woman on the show. And then we are all the women on the show. So it's a little bit It's crazy. It's such a It's such a special occasion.

So what is it like working with Alison Brie on set? I know that she's hilarious too. Do you guys love working with her?

I just have these little moments with her occasionally where I'm like, you're a good leader, man. You're doing a good job. You know what I mean? Like she's just she's good at what she does and she's calm and she's kind. And we do, I think, not even on purpose, sort of look to her cuz she's she's really like she's our Ruth, like for us as girls outside of Glow. So she is, you know, the one speaking on our behalf most of the time. And I think, I mean, she just kills it.

Last question, season two. So it premieres in June, right?
