The Boys of Tall Girl 2 Reveal Which Characters They'd Be BFFs With

We got the boys from Tall Girl 2. How are you guys feeling?

I'm very well. How are you?

Pretty good. So, for Griffin and Luke to start, how did you find out that there was gonna be a sequel? And then how did you find out find out you got casted?

Yeah. Oh my gosh. Funnily enough, I want to say that I heard rumors of the sequel first from you, actually. Yeah, I think I think I remember calling Griffin. I think I had talked to Ava about, she had had a meeting with the writer about the script. She called me um with some of the ideas. And then I think I called Griffin and then um I think, you know, with COVID, we kind of just had some dates that were thrown around to our our teams and then um we didn't know what was gonna happen because obviously it was just going longer and longer and longer. And Man, was I thrilled to know that we're gonna do this thing. Because it was so nice to get out of the house. it was it was like, oh, is it gonna get picked up or not? And then once we found out that it got picked up, we're like, are we gonna be able to film this or not? because of the pandemic. Yeah. But I remember I remember the first time after I heard the news from you, I remember getting a call from my manager like a week later or like two weeks later or something. She's like, so we're doing a Tall Girl 2 sequel and I was like, oh yeah, I know. I've known for a while now. Yeah. And she was like, how did you know before us? Like, how do you know? Yeah. I was like, how did you not tell me? And it says a lot about um not to drag this question on too far, but it says a lot about how involved Ava has been and how real this is to her life. She was in there since the inception of the script and I think that speaks a lot to how much Netflix cares about being authentic in the story.

Totally. Yeah. Totally.

How'd you find out you got casted?

How did I find out? Um, well they definitely made me work for it. That's for sure. Um, I think I had like seven callbacks. Um, Emily was already a big fan, the team was great. And I felt like there was a um not like I felt the truth is there was already a story between Ava and I there because we had bumped into each other uh in the very beginning of our careers, like doing fashion shows and stuff like that. So once we had like this chemistry read, we just easily hit it off. And then the next thing you know is like, I had to sing. I had to show them what I can do on tape and I'm like, oh, this is so bad. I don't know what I'm doing. Um, but then they surprised me. Uh, they asked me to come back, do like a bit of an improv exercise and I'm like, what more do these people want to see? Um, you know, actor thoughts or whatever. And it turned out that everyone was on Zoom and they were like trying to do the the exercise and they were like, okay, so how would you feel if you were cast in the new Tall Girl 2 movie? You got it. I was like, oh my god. Finally. Like running around my house and everything and it's just Yeah. It was a dream come true, you know, it was really fun. I loved it all like that.

That's so special. If you guys weren't part of the movie and you were just watching it, who do you think would be your best friend from the cast if you went to the school?

I'll be honest. Um, for me, it would have been uh Luke's character. Yeah, for sure. It would be Luke. I mean, I just felt like we have a lot in common. I didn't speak English. I came from a different country. You know, I would choke in the middle of all auditions, all that stuff. So I felt like we had a a lot to uh a lot of similarities there, you know, in terms of like our personal insecurities from for the from the exterior point of view, I guess. Yeah. Uh, is it is it like super selfish to say that I I think I would get along with Jack, uh? No, not at all. Just get along with that's all you. Personality, he's, you know, he is a a version of myself. My biggest fear is that I would hang out with him and just like hate everything about him and then realize that that's all me as well. Yeah. That's the thing. Yeah. So yeah. I really like Snipper in this movie because he's so philosophical. I think I would love to sit and just pick his brain. He's always quoting some things. I think I would hang out with him. I know. The actor who plays Snipper is very similar to his character. Um, but no, I mean, realistically, I'd probably be friends with with Jody and and Steg and Tommy because I was a musical theater kid as well. Right. Yeah, so was I actually. Yeah.

And are you guys super close? Like when the movie actually comes out on Netflix, will you guys text each other and be like, did you see like see it and stuff or?

Absolutely. I think I can speak for we're we're very thankful to be a part of this movie, but also it was a chance for us to become great friends and those friendships last forever. It's an experience that um together. Well, I have an idea, right? If we're gonna make this last forever, why don't we create a group chat, guys? What's good? What's up? How come we're not having you created a group chat? I know. We do have one for the cast though, like a general group chat, but we need one for the three musketeers over here, you know. I'll say yeah. So text like don't text people. You're text. I'm the worst texter anyway. So I'm like sleeping half the time. That hurts.
