Hi. Hello. Long time no see.
I know. You guys were literally my last in-person interview right before COVID.
I know, I was looking through, it's part of like what we'll do today, but I was looking through and I was like, oh my god, like she was literally like right before COVID hit in the studio.
You guys were the only interview that didn't cancel on me, so I appreciate you. I think you said that in the Zoom we did over like last summer. I think you did. That's so funny. And that, we talked, I think it was like a year ago now because it was still Zoom. Oh my gosh. what we're going to do because you've been in Young Hollywood every year since 2017. And so, yeah.
I know. Oh my gosh.
And since it's the final season, we're going to do like a little like blast from the past like reaction. So I'm going to show you pictures of you and what you wore and what you said and you're going to react.
Oh no. Okay. Ah, okay.
Okay, so this was 2017, the first time in the Young Hollywood studio and this was you guys.
Oh my gosh, I remember that so vividly. I really loved my makeup. Yeah. Um, Allan who actually did my makeup today did it and I remember it being like blushy and peachy or whatever. But I remember I didn't think far enough ahead to get styled. So I think I like got that dress at like Topshop.
I was going to say, just like the dress. There's a lot of, it's still cute but there's like a lot of lines on it. And then I don't I don't know what we gave you guys, but do you remember drinking that?
I don't think we actually drank it. I do remember I do remember the sugar cane thing though.
Do you remember uh, like your 2017 mindset compared like that season compared to now? Just like some things that would be different.
I mean, I think that we were just like, I mean, I look back at it and I think we were just so excited because it was the beginning of it and there was so much, you know, hope and excitement towards the future of the show and now it's like, oh like, how cute. Like, I wish I could go back there and like know and that we had five seasons to look forward to.
Exactly. You didn't know that at the time. Yeah. So that's crazy. It's weird to look back. And then for the game that you played during that, the question I do remember that. I'm not going to lie to you, me, Megan, and Asia watched that interview very recently and we were all laughing hysterically because our answers are still all the same.
Same. Like the who's most likely to sto like one. You said yeah. There was like one that they said me for which was like, who would was it, oh, there was one that we said Megan for that was like, who would track, who would track their friends on find my friends? Yes. And that was true of Megan then. I don't think that's true of Megan now. And yours was who's most likely to stalk your ex.
This was in 2017, so were you with your now husband then or not?
Yeah, I've been with my husband since 2014. That's what I thought. But I've been but I've been known, I've been known to be like, what's that guy up to? See what happened with his life. Yeah, you didn't want me then, look at me now, bet you're kicking yourself. Yep.
Okay, now we're going to flash to 2018 and I'm very interested to see how you feel about what you wore. Okay, you ready?
Oh no. Does this mean it was bad? I don't know. I it was cute. Oh my gosh. No, okay, so I remember that top. Shirt, I forgot. Okay, so that top came with a matching skirt. Okay. And I remember feeling like I didn't want to wear the skirt because it just felt too patterned for me. So I was like last minute like, I'll put on black pants with it. Whatever. Um, top is really cute. I probably should have just worn the skirt and made it a look because it feels incomplete. And then not long after Sabrina Carpenter was like on a carpet somewhere wearing the exact same outfit and we have the same hair person. So he saw that outfit twice. He was like, oh, like, look at that.
Velvets everywhere. Oh yeah, that's so funny. And you played then you said that was advice. Like you were giving people
Oh yeah, that was like dating advice. I I think with me and Sam. We've asked you about dating advice a lot. We were both, I mean, Sam, I wasn't married yet. I don't was I engaged, was I even engaged then?
You had a big ring on your finger.
Okay, so I was I was just recently engaged. So I think that it was yeah, relationship advice from me and Sam, which even though I'm married, I feel like I still am not the person to go to for relationship advice because when I was single, I had less than no game. I don't even know how I got my husband.
Well, you said in that interview how you met your husband at hot yoga, and I'm sure so many people know that, but that or not met at hot yoga, or did you meet at hot yoga?
Our first date was hot yoga. We met at a friend's apartment.
You did hot yoga for your first date.
We did. Well, because we were with a big group of people the night before and we were bowling, which is another thing we love to do. And we were, you know, talking and he was talking about how he goes to yoga and I was like, I go to yoga and then we both said we went to the same yoga studio but we had never seen each other there and he was like, we should go sometime. And I was like, sure. And I thought he was like friend zoning me cuz like friends go to yoga together. Um, and then he texted me the next day and said that there was a candle light 9:00 PM yoga class. So we went to a candle light yoga. And I remember being like, I'm not wearing any makeup. And my friend, I was FaceTiming her before I was like going down to get in the car with him and she was like pep talking me. She was like, girl, if he loves you, he's going to love you for you. No makeup, just like go do it. And I was like, yeah, you're right. I immediately got in the car and I was like, I hope he thinks I'm cute. Yeah, praying.
Oh, that's so funny. Um, but yeah, that was 2018 you were with Sam Page right in the studio. Not the not the other girls. You and then you did one solo, but we'll get there. Okay, so this is 2019 and you look hot. Like, you look really good.
Oh, that was cute. Yeah, I that that was another one that I was I that was another that was like before a panel we were doing too and you guys brought the bus out. That was on the bus. Um, but I remember I also was unprepared cuz I didn't know that we were doing that panel. So I didn't get styled for that either. So me and Megan went to Reformation and got dresses.
Yeah. I love it. The the all the wardrobe mishaps that just no one they're not really mishaps, but no one's really about. And then yeah, we did ask you in that about dating advice and you said to just be open and communicate, but you said the same thing you're like, I'm not good at dating advice, but we kept asking you.
Yeah, well, because it's like, I mean, I guess maybe that's the thing is to don't play games. I still stand by communication, cuz I remember like the turn of my relationship, like being one that like lasted to not was my husband back when we were dating being like, hey, this is only going to work if we say what we want to say when we want to say it and we're both just like 100% ourselves. And then from that point on, we started doing this thing called right now where no matter what if we're like sitting with each other and we're not talking and someone's staring out into space and we know they're thinking about something else. We say right now and you have to say exactly what you're thinking in that moment and that's been great for like times where we have fights or I'm upset about something because if he says right now, it's kind of like, here's your chance to say what you're upset about and if you don't say it now, we move on.
That's actually a really good like that other people could do. Like that's really good.
I highly recommend it. And obviously If anything, it'll show you that you're not meant to be together or you are.
That's the thing and like that's going back like you're married to this man. So like obviously you not playing games is working because it leads to marriage and like, you know what I mean? Like because this day and age, Games don't work. We just play games. Like just Games don't work. The whole like don't don't text till three days after a date. Like, no, if you like the person, text them that you like them and if they're not into it, then onto the next. I like that right now. People watching, that would be really sick for them to do that. Okay, this was pre-COVID, right before COVID hit 2020 you were by yourself and then
Yep. Yep. I remember that. And I also remember I couldn't get styled. That was like, I couldn't get styled because I like literally flew in from Canada. So I like only had the clothes that I had there and so I think I wore like jeans and just this like red top that I got. I think they were black jeans. Yeah, black jeans or dark blue, one of those.
And then you wore um, but I was I I yeah, I remember I got I got up at 5:30 in the morning that day, got glammed and then towards the tail end of glam, I got a call saying that everything but Young Hollywood has canceled today. And I was like, well, thank God I got one thing. Didn't get ready for nothing.
Yep, literally. That's always. And then one thing you said in there that I like relate to and I wanted to ask you about was you always need your nails done and I love that. Is that still true?
Can I tell you that when this interview is over, I'm going to get my nails done.
I told I literally was like, I need to ask you about the nail thing.
I, so I I have like these are my nails are not this long, but it's a thing called GelX and I always get nude so that like from there, you can't tell how badly grown out they are.
No, I can't at all.
I always get nude. But so two of them like popped off the other day and my husband was only in town with me for a few days and I was like, I was like, babe, I think I have to go get my nails done. He was like, will you be happier if you do? And I was like, uh, like thinking about the amount of hours it takes, like going there, getting them done, all that. I just like found nail glue in my bag and I just like glued them back on. I was like, I could go when you leave. So he left this morning, so I'm going. Yeah, I'll go. I already have a book. Like you're gone. I'm just a happier person when like my hands look nice, you know?
What did you do when salons were closed?
I bought a gel light. I bought a gel light and I watched tutorials on how to do it myself and even though I know how to do it myself, I still want to pay to go do it.
The pandemic hits and they're like, you're not like grocery store like whatever they're like nail salons closed and that's when you have the heart attack. That's when you're like, oh,
Yeah. Yeah, I was like everything else being closed, I'm okay with, but but also like I didn't mind when my nails weren't done because I was like, no one's seeing my hands anyway.
Right. I get that, but that was a blast from the past. That was every year since 2017. Amazing. Amazing. I'm sure you guys have like older archives of me too from like back in Faking It days. That was just like the touching on, you know, The bold type one, yeah.
We could go way back, way back. Yes.
And then what would you use three words to describe this final season?
Oh, wow. Um emotional. Um emotional, trippy and heartwarming.
And now that you won't have like won't be filming, what are you going to carry on like from the show into your personal life just so like the spark still there from the show?
My friendships and the family that I created on the show. I think that that was like the one thing. I mean, I was sad because our crew is from Montreal, so all of those people, you know, we won't get to see. Hopefully we all film in Montreal again at some point so we could be with them again. But um I I wasn't super sad on the last day. I mean, don't get me wrong, I was crying like I was eight years old again. But at the end of the day, my sadness didn't come from like not having these people in my life anymore. It was just, you know, the closing of the chapter cuz I know that at the end of the day, like Asia and Megan and, you know, everybody in the cast I'm going to be close to, but like me and Megan and Asia are in contact daily. So, um, I know that I'm going to take that with
You got the best friends out of it. And you're never going to never going to not
Never. They can't get rid of me.
Yeah, they literally will not be able to. You have too many memories, too many Young Hollywood videos to watch.
Yes. That's so cute.
Well, you're so pretty and I'm glad I got to talk to you again and um You're so pretty. Congrats on the last season and everything you've done over the years.
Thank you so much and hopefully next thing I book, I'll be back in studio.
Make sure you have a glam team and everybody prepared.
Oh, I'm going to like, just tell me my interview, like, you know, five days before and I'll get it together.
Well, perfect. Thank you so much, Katie.
Thank you.
