Welcome to Young Hollywood. com. Hey everybody, I'm here with the gorgeous Zoe Saldana. So we'll talk about your project, Star Trek. We talked to Zachary Quinto a couple weeks ago.
I think working with all those crazy people, you know, JJ and the rest of the cast was such a delight to show up to work with every day.
When you were younger, did you ever dream of being Spock when you were older?
No, but I had a Spock haircut and uh and that will be revealed and proven at some point along the line, I'm sure.
So, we're excited about it. What was the best part about filming?
I think JJ and the cast, everybody from like Zach to Chris, to Anton and Carl and John Cho. It was amazing and everybody just kind of stepped into their shoes and they became what they were supposed to become, but there was this level of integrity uh knowing that we were going to do something that had been done before by amazing actors. And I think that the perk and the prize of doing a film like that was also working with Leonard Nemoy, who I consider to be one of the most graceful like human beings on this earth.
Were you a very big fan of the show?
No, I I was not actually. I became, I became very acquainted with it a couple of years back when I did a film for Steven Spielberg and I had to play like a Trekkie, a person that was and that's how I started like doing my research and I I was introduced to the Trekkie world and I have so much respect for it and nothing but like admiration for fans that follow it throughout their entire lives and integrated into their lives into their everyday routines. I think that's so beautiful. I don't speak Romulan or or Klingon yet, but I'm I I love it. It was it was a lot of fun.
Well, it sounds like it would be a big challenge to actually have to get into that character and and get into that world. Is there any struggles that you had to overcome when you did get into the character or when you started to prepare for it?
No, it was just it was just that that desire to really not disappoint the fans and and also to get the blessing of like the cast members, the original cast members of Star Trek. I I had the privilege of meeting Michelle Nichols, who is Uhura and and she was just amazing and then to to have amazing conversations with Leonard Nemoy. It's that thing, I think that and I feel I almost feel like we all felt the same. We really did not and do not and will not disappoint the fans.
