We both had to fly from LA to see each other.

Yes. I know that's true. Now, let's just talk about it. I flew coach and you guys were in a little bit better style. And I only know this because you tweeted from the plane, so, you know.

I did. We let Lamorne edited all of us.

You did.

It was it was fun and it was exciting to be with the cast together. Whether we were flying coach or not, I was going to tweet that we were all a family.

You were all together. I'm outing you on Twitter again. Mhm. That your goal in Miami was to wake up, you can finish it.

Uh, I wanted to wake up on a strange man's boat.

Hey, elaborate.

Well, not like in some sort of weird like sexual thing. I know what you're thinking.

I wasn't thinking that at all.

that's what you were thinking about. I wanted to wake up, not like a yacht or anything, like an old like fisherman's boat. You know. And then I wake up and there's this really old interesting man. And he's he's telling me, he's giving me this long like your surreal story about what I did last night. And then he sends me on my way to complete my journey in life.

Like eat, pray, love, or something? That's what you wanted to have happen?

Yeah. On a boat?

You're you're in the middle of season three on New Girl. You got pre-movie placement after the Super Bowl. Your episode is going to air. I can't wait for everyone to see it. Prince guest starring. That is so unprecedented because he's like that elusive guy that no one ever sees. Yeah. How did you guys, how did you swing it?

I called him.

You did. Okay.

I said, P, what up, man? He was like, hello. So, what are you doing? He's like, watching myself in the mirror. I said, of course you are. Get your ass to LA, man. Let's make this TV show happen. He came on down and, you know, the cast was cool with it and so.

So, you're taking full credit.

100%.

But what was he like on set?

Prince walked on the set. He was great. He was so down to earth and He's really off the cuff funny.

Yeah. He was really funny. He um, he wanted me to teach one of his dancers, who was in a scene, how to act surprised. And it was so funny. He sat there and and watched me coach her. And then he's like coaching her too. He's like, no, no, you don't look surprised enough. Do it.

All right, coach me. I know how to act surprised. Okay. Here's the scenario. Oh, gosh. Give me a scenario.

Okay. You're in a long-term relationship with this guy who you love so much.

I can relate.

He broke up with you, right?

I can relate.

And then what happened was you found out on Facebook, he broke up with you for your best friend. You haven't seen him in a while. You look trauma surprised. You're like trauma. And then you're so heartbroken and your life has hit the bottom. One day you wake up and she's in your room. What do you do?

You make her cry. Cuz a lot of emotions. Not just surprise. A lot of emotions, not just surprise.

No, let me, let me coach you. Okay. You walk into your bedroom. You open up the closet. And there's a black dude in the closet. What's up, man? What's your face? There you go. You're welcome. That's coaching.

That's a happy surprise. You were going deep. That was going very deep. I it's life has layers. You know what I mean? Like a triton piece of paper. Yeah, what's that surprise? Well, along those lines, third season in. I know you guys work really long hours on this show and it can be take after take after take. Keeping it fresh, making it a fresh take every time. Like what is your secret?

I think we genuinely just make each other laugh.

Yeah. It honestly doesn't feel like an effort, like, oh, it's another take. It's really funny writing. It's easy.

That and coffee.

Yeah, that too. Coffee trucks don't hurt.

The cast of New Girl with a shot of coffee on the side. Yes. So, I know you guys, you're no stranger to the award season. You've been on the carpets. Gorgeous at the SAG Awards. You look incredible. Do you have like an ultimate like celebrity crush or somebody you have met that you've always wanted to meet or somebody with Oscars coming up, you would love to meet that you haven't?

It was pretty cool to see Walter White on the carpet at the SAG Awards. That was actually pretty cool. I'm a huge Breaking Bad fan. So, that was awesome.

Did you talk to him?

No, cuz I never want to break the spell.

You don't want to break the bad.

Yet. I just don't want to I know he's the most amazing, lovely, funny guy. I just still need time to process and get over Breaking Bad. And then I can meet Brian, but right now it's Walter White and I just I still need time. No. I need some time.

Okay. So, red carpet. I don't know what it's like to all of a sudden you step on, you step out of this car, you step on and you have all these cameras going crazy. I would think it'd be so nerve-wracking. Stressed about it.

Yeah. I get too stressed. I get frightened. My first red carpet really? big experience was at uh BET Awards and there's huge carpet and I don't have a publicist at this point. I'm just there. I used to work for BET, so I was a host and they asked me to do the carpet.

You were a host.

Yes.

You're both hosts.

But I get on I get on the carpet and I don't I don't know protocol. I'm just walking and they go, Lamorne Morris and I walk up. One guy takes a picture. Another person and then Chris Brown shows up behind me and starts dancing and everybody moves the cameras towards Chris Brown. I'm like, Chris Brown is dancing. Everyone's looking at him. Everyone's like excited. One camera guy goes, get out of the way. Get out of the way. And I was like, Okay. And I walk out of the way and then I just keep walking. No one's taking pictures. And I was like, this is really embarrassing. So, I just ripped it off the carpet. Next year. I'm like, I'm not doing the carpet. They ask me to do it. I have a publicist. My publicist decides to walk down the carpet and say, I'm going to meet you on the other end. And I was like, okay, cool. I get on the carpet. And guess who's behind me? Russell Simmons. So, everyone's like, let's look at Russell Simmons. Who was this other dude? Fast forward. GQ Man of the Year party.

Oh, I was there with you. I was there with you.

GQ Man of the Year party. I get on the red carpet. Everything seems great. Guess who walks up right behind me? Jay-Z. Again, get out of the way. There was one particular photographer who said, get the Like, I can't even describe what he was saying to me. Yeah. As if I was a piece of trash.

I was there with you.

Get out of the way. And I was like, what, what, what? Oh, it's Jay-Z. Okay. And it was very embarrassing. So, now when I go to red carpets, I just I like, hey. Thank you. great. You want to photograph me? It's it's weird.
