Okay, so Neil, you did you give Winslow any advice when it comes to, you know, the 80s vibes, when it came to

I didn't. Weirdly the way this movie was shot. Uh, I was, I came in, had to quarantine cuz we, it was filmed in Toronto. Uh, so I quarantined for 14 days and then I worked for like three or four days, cuz my character is mostly voiceover as like voice of Winslow who plays a younger version of me. Um, so I did get to talk to the girl, the actress that played my daughter a little bit, but Winslow needs no help in the uh explanation department. He's a pretty sharp tack.

I love it. And when you guys were growing up, well, one's not still growing up, but growing, what is the ultimate gift to you guys for Christmas? You have the Nintendo in the film. What is one gift that's just like you were obsessed with.

I, well last year, I was really obsessed with um, getting a Oculus quest. And I just, I just, I don't know, I really wanted this Oculus Quest so bad. I mean, I was just basically begging my parents for it. Um, cuz, I mean, yeah, I I just I really wanted it. And it it's really awesome. Virtual reality, dude. It's virtual reality and it doesn't have you're not tethered to anything. It's Oculus Quest is the coolest thing that's ever happened. I mean, and I got that like, that was the Christmas right before we started filming. And then also, my dad got me as a surprise gift, I had no idea. He got me an NES, because that at that point, I knew I was going to be in this movie and then he got me the NES, and it was really cool. It was awesome.

That's so cool. That your dad got you that. I wanted a drone when the drones first came out. And I thought that was cool and I I got one. One of those DJI,

Yeah, yeah, I. DJI one. Yeah, I have the DJI in the other room. Yeah, that was cool. Except it's really, I don't know, I I have it. I don't use it that much because it's a lot to do and then you wind up like with a SD card with gigabytes of footage of like random skylines.

Never know when you need it though, never know. When your life is like a long movie and you're you're needing background footage.

I love how yours was both technology too, kinda related to the whole Nintendo vibe as well.

Yeah, I, yeah.

And you guys have any special plans? Will you guys like text each other when the movie comes out to the world? Like, do you have any special plans?

No, uh Winslow's Winslow's young. I'm as old as dirt to him. I'm like an old fuddy duddy. He, he's older than my children. So, no. Winslow wants nothing to do with me. Cuz all I do is tell him to go to bed and to read a book. Get some rest. Get some sleep.

Yeah, my, um, I mean I don't have any really huge plans, but I mean, I think, uh, I'm I'm working on a movie right now and I know that there's some people here that are excited for it to come out and so we might do something for it. Um, just like, I don't know, watch watch it together or something. And I know my grandma's really excited for it. She's always super excited when the new movie comes out and she's like, oh, I'm going to throw a watch party. And then she like, throws a huge party. Um, it's just, I don't know, it's Oops.

Well, congratulations on 8-bit. It's coming out soon. How do you guys feel that the world's finally gonna see it? Second guest: Oh, gosh. I feel great. I'm, you know, I feel like so many parents had to really just save Christmas and holidays over the last 18 months and make them something during a difficult time and it's just such a sweet and funny and heartwarming movie that I, I just think people are really going to connect to, especially right now, cuz it's just a it's like a it's like a shot of joy.

Yeah. Add a new one to the list. Yeah. You got a a brand of spanking new Christmas movie. There you go.

And when you guys were kids, like you were getting ready, waking up, leaving cookies for Santa, what did you think was the ultimate gift? when you guys were kids. Second guest: Oh. So I really I I loved Cabbage Patch kids, I loved dolls, I loved Barbies. Now, I really wanted a Barbie Dreamhouse at one point and I'm realizing as we're we're talking that I never got one. And, um, my next door neighbor had one and so I would bring my Barbies over there. Um, but it it was tough to not have your own Barbie Dreamhouse. But that was to me, like that was that was it. You know, you

You know what my sisters got was they got the Barbie the Barbie airplane, like the Barbie Jetliner with the Second guest: I didn't know she had one.

Yeah, and there was like a a like a flight attendant tray and everything. And when I got my GI Joe, this is true. I would go in to my sister's room and and I would go on to the plane and they were flying me to Vietnam. They were flying me to Vietnam. And then I would go off the plane. Oh, put me back. And then I'd go outside and I'd, you know, be a GI Joe in the woods. Second guest: That's hilarious. I was, I did wonder as a child, like, I remember having the thought, like, oh, Ken wears underwear, but Barbie doesn't. Huh. Okay. just like, huh, okay. Oh, so fun. Oh my gosh.

And you guys, the dinner table is an iconic scene. What if you could go back now, reenact any scene or like, refilm any scene, what scene would you guys want to refilm from the movie? What's your favorite? Because you don't like it. Are you asking us like how we would make it better and go back in there and fix some mistakes. Second guest: Um, gosh. I don't know. Yeah, the dinner scenes were fun and, um, I also really enjoyed I really enjoyed the the car scene where we were driving. I always love doing that. I don't know why, the driving stuff. Um, it's just fun and relaxed and we got to just improvise and it was insane and and, yeah. So I think I would probably go back to that one. Um, and just make it better. I usually think of some really like great things on the drive home after it's done. That's when that's when everything starts to really click for me and I have a deep understanding of the work is when as soon as I leave. Yeah.

What about you, Steve?

Uh, anything outside. You know, it's hard shooting inside on a stage because it's a stage, you know. But then you go outside and it's cold and it's Toronto. Right. Yeah, it was cold. Freezing. It was tough, man. Tell you what, it was like the height of the height of COVID, lockdown, cold. We've been quarantined for two weeks, both of us were. And then after two weeks, I walked out onto the street going, I'm free. Yeah. I walked out on the street and it's lockdown and I honestly, I just stood, looked both ways and turned around and went back in the house. Oh, that was fun.
