About this video

It has been an incredibly spectacular couple years for the talented 12-year-old Madison Taylor Baez. Not only did the singing phenom make her voice heard loud and clear on Season 17 of "America's Got Talent" while also performing the National Anthem for several professional and college sports teams, she also proved she has the acting chops to go with it when she appeared as young Selena Quintanilla in Netflix's "Selena: The Series"! Now, she's taking on acting full force with her intense role in Showtime's horror-drama "Let The Right One In" -- a new take on the 2008 Swedish movie of the same name -- as the insatiable child vampire Eleanor. Young Hollywood sits down with Miss Madison to get all the tea on her career and the show in particular, including why she could never be a vampire in real life and her major goals for the future! "Let The Right One In" is now streaming on Showtime.

Madison Taylor Baez

Everyone. It's Madison Taylor baez. I'm here at the park in santa Monica with young Hollywood and today we're playing tea or trivia.

Young Hollywood

What's up? Young Hollywood? We are with a very special guest Maddie, maddie. Hello, how are you?

Madison Taylor Baez

I am great. I love the fit.

Young Hollywood

Thank you. Did you pick up all your outfits?

Madison Taylor Baez

Yes, most of the time. Yeah, we have a lot going on.

Young Hollywood

So for viewers that are watching you, what does your day look like when you're not on the talent, when you're not filming for your left right ones in the showtime show?

Madison Taylor Baez

Well, I mean usually I'm still in school, I mean in person school, so usually I start off the day early um maybe around 6 30. Get up, get ready for school, Head to school. I'm there until about three, so I get out of three, come home, get a quick bite and then usually I'm in my room doing my homework. If I finish early, I come down to spend some time with my parents. And then, I mean it's just that cycle until the weekend.

Young Hollywood

Do you have to memorize any lines in this situation when you're not doing school after homework? Do you have to do lines?

Madison Taylor Baez

Um Not unless I have an audition or something like that, but yeah, usually I'm just free to go until auditions come and

Young Hollywood

are you a morning person Like the 6:30?

Madison Taylor Baez

It depends if I'm awake if I'm awake and I'm able to see something cool or something like that. If I have something to look forward to. I'm definitely a morning person. But besides that, I think I'm a night owl.

Young Hollywood

Okay, so we have tea or trivia. So you're gonna flip the coin? The coin is tails. Okay, trivia is heads. You get the trivia is about you. Okay. So you should know it. Okay. And then tails the T, is everything we want to know as an audience. Okay. Okay, let's go. Let's see if I still, there we go. Oh, I got t. Okay, perfect. Okay, ready. Let's go for tea. First one. Okay, Now the show on showtime, let the right one in that plays at 10 p. m. on Sunday nights. You stay awake to watch it or do you go to sleep and watch it at a different time.

Madison Taylor Baez

I usually stay awake actually I stay awake for sure because I'm, as I said, I'm a night owl. So that's like nothing. So I'm like so anxious to like even this show, even though I know what's gonna go on, I just want to see what happens. Like I feel like one of those years myself, but um, I believe it comes out on a man on Fridays. So, so I also watch it friday's right when it comes out.

Young Hollywood

But yeah, so you, you do watch yourself. Do you like your, like, that's insane.

Madison Taylor Baez

That depends. Sometimes. Sometimes I don't like to watch myself. Usually I watch to see the other actors and the other storyline, but

Young Hollywood

love supporting the costar. Okay, ready? There you go. Okay, you can pick one up. Okay, we don't have the answers. Okay, We can't let you see the answer. Who is the quarterback for the Los Angeles rams right now?

Madison Taylor Baez

Yeah. Why did it just pop out of my brain? This always happens.

Young Hollywood

You should know you sing the national anthem for them.

Madison Taylor Baez

I know, I know Stafford first. Matthew Stafford.

Young Hollywood

Okay. Ding, Ding, Ding, You got it. Okay. Okay, so you sing the national anthem for N B A N. F L. What's your favorite sport right now?

Madison Taylor Baez

Football, that, that football and baseball to watch right now,

Young Hollywood

Is it Dodgers in L. A girl? Orange County, L. A. Girl? Yes. Okay, here we go. Yeah, that was, that was an amazing flip heads again, heads. There you go. Take a good one. Can't get it wrong. This was probably related to you. Okay, This is related to vampires. Okay, so you should know because you are a vampire.

Madison Taylor Baez

I am a I'm actually burning as we speak.

Young Hollywood

She's gonna drink blood out of this. Okay. In medieval times, people with what hair color were regarded as vampires

Madison Taylor Baez

purple. It's red hair. Red hair. I don't know why

Young Hollywood

you never know that. But you know, if they teach that in our history class. Well now you should suggest that you learn about.

Madison Taylor Baez

Yeah, I know we should learn that was there we go. Oh tails tails. Okay. Ready? Yes. Okay, right now. Okay, when you are singing, do you have a technique on how you hold the microphone?

Madison Taylor Baez

That's a really good question. I don't, I don't think so. I'm not sure if you look back in all of my singing videos and there's a certain way, but I mean, I think no, I don't really think so. I think I just do whatever feels right,

Young Hollywood

you get nervous before you saying

Madison Taylor Baez

I do. I get very, very nervous like especially for America's Got Talent, I got scary nervous. I was shaking and then when I went out there and then the music started playing then I started to like stop shaking.

Young Hollywood

Yeah, I can't even imagine. Okay, when you were on the GT stage, could you see the crowd? I mean you came from the crowd, but could you see it on stage kind of dark?

Madison Taylor Baez

No, you can see every single person there and they're all staring at you. It's very, very scary. And then you can see the judges right there and they're all like, it's just waiting. Yeah, it was very scary. But it was so fun.

Young Hollywood

Yeah. Did you see anybody crying at the end? You were crying?

Madison Taylor Baez

I was crying. I was crying. Yeah, that's so special.

Young Hollywood

Heads again. Heads There we go. Not again. Okay, ready. Okay, this is gonna be fun. Do you run your own instagram?

Madison Taylor Baez

My dad does.

Young Hollywood

Okay, so your, your phone your dad, what was the date you posted on instagram about? America's got talent? No one was. Can I phone a friend? Dad june? It was, it was tune june 2nd june 3rd way. You got it. Oh my God you're good with your dates. It's june 3rd. You posted on june 3rd. He says, I remember everything. I know. I know the date, wow. I'm surprised you got that heads. There you go. That's it. A lot of options. Okay. Okay. You sang the national anthem at U. C. L. A. Versus Villanova basketball game. How many people were in attendance that night? I'm mentally there. You're there. You're singing. You see the basketball players, you're on the court.

Madison Taylor Baez

I think it was 15,000.

Young Hollywood

Yes, you got it. It was 15,000. Okay.

Madison Taylor Baez

Yeah, I remember that night. Yeah, that was that was a very fun night.

Young Hollywood

Is it more nerve wracking singing in front of 15,000, 90,000 people or when you were singing young Selena on set in front of people?

Madison Taylor Baez

It depends where I'm just not going to include America's got talent. To 70,000 people were just going to put that to the side. I think I I definitely think like 70,000 people, 15,000 people. There's just so many people just like they're all focused on you so probably that one. I can't even imagine

Young Hollywood

tails tails. Okay. Ready for the t. Yes. Okay. Ready in the show. Let the right one in. You play Eleanor? Who is a blood drinking vampire when you bite the inside of your lips on accident. Do you taste the blood and ever think you could be a vampire in real life? That's an odd question.

Madison Taylor Baez

Um aside from the pain, I mean, I don't think I could live off blood, but yeah, no, I don't think I would ever be able to do that. I can't live off blood and then not being able to go in the sunlight. That'd be torture for me.

Young Hollywood

You know, you could be in your room all day every day.

Madison Taylor Baez

I can't do that now.

Young Hollywood

Okay, so in the show though, what is the blood crystal lite?

Madison Taylor Baez

So it's like crystal light but the sugar ratio is like times 100. So jacked up on sugar there all the time. That kept me up during the late nights.

Young Hollywood

Yeah, they're like no coffee, Crystal light? It's like, it's like back and forth. Here we go. The L. A Rams gave you a jersey that read anthem girl on the back. What number was on the jersey?

Madison Taylor Baez

Okay, you were quick with that. You remember that one? I remember that. Yeah, they gave us the room and then there was this really cool locker and I was like, mom, can we keep it? Yeah, I remember seeing the jersey. It was really

Young Hollywood

do you have? Okay from what? What do you have? Do you hang anything on your wall? Like you have the jersey in a case or do you wear the jersey?

Madison Taylor Baez

I don't I don't have anything hanging right now. I hang my clothes on the hangers. So there's like a special spot where I put everything that I've gotten. So yeah, all of my sports jerseys, they go right here and then my special special sports jerseys that they have different sections. My mic back

Young Hollywood

tails. Okay, Ready? You started singing when you were two years old? That's crazy. Remember what I was doing it too. But what do you remember from being two years old besides singing? You have a memory from being too.

Madison Taylor Baez

I remember this might have been maybe a few years later, but I remember I used to have this a giant house and I used to grab like three bed sheets and I used to put all the chairs together and make this little four in this one corner. This is singing related though. And then I would then I would go on my dad's ipad or something and like watch, you know, singing videos. But yeah, I used to make my little four and then like sing to myself, that would be my little cozy comfort corner.

Young Hollywood

I remember when I was I wasn't singing, I'm not singing like you, I might have tried to sing, but I was nothing like you. But I remember making the whole fourth thing too. I think everybody probably went through that face. Just building for it

Madison Taylor Baez

tails, tails. Okay, again, let's see.

Young Hollywood

Okay, a lot of other kids have looked up to you still do. And you inspire them. Who do you look up to?

Madison Taylor Baez

I probably look up to my dad. I mean he's always been with me and then I just think it's amazing that.

Young Hollywood

Oh man. Oh, so cute.

Madison Taylor Baez

Yeah, he's always been there. I think it's very special that he's gone through 11 years in the hospital and I mean he's right here.

Young Hollywood

We love that. I mean your dad loves you, you were in the other room and he was just talking up a storm about you and how much he's gone through and how much he's always there for you. So especially you guys have a good bond too. There you go. Okay. The coin now. Okay, you can drop the crying part. Okay, perfect. We're getting low on the tails. Okay. Ready? What year was the first ever season of America's count talent?

Madison Taylor Baez

Oh, Recent math. Thank you today. Um I'm just gonna throw something out there. I really don't know. I'm gonna say 2005 six.

Young Hollywood

I was golden butter for you. I expected, wow, what year were you born?

Madison Taylor Baez

I was born in 2010.

Young Hollywood

Okay, great. Yeah, Love that. Okay, so it's four years older than you, but it's fine. So it gets golden buzzer. Wasn't even born when it started. That's a cool year to be born. Right? 2010 looks great. I love it heads. Perfect. Just getting all nervous. Okay. This is another original. This is a date, maybe more math. What year did the original let the right one in movie Air?

Madison Taylor Baez

2008.

Young Hollywood

Yes. You got it caught up, dairy caught up.

Madison Taylor Baez

I did my research. I remember when I, when I found out I got the role, I looked at the script and I was like so I liked the movie and yeah, I read what I could find about it.

Young Hollywood

When you found out that you, well, what was the timeline between you auditioning and then you found out you got the part.

Madison Taylor Baez

It was actually a long, it was a long time. I think there's, there's when I first auditioned, we didn't hear anything for them from for a while. And then I want to say about three weeks later, we finally heard something back and they're like, oh, we want you to come for the callback, went for the call back another three weeks. Oh, maybe we could have you for the producers call back. So we did that. And then finally there was this one callback with Damon and I acted out the scenes with him and they were torn between me and another girl and they ended up giving me the, that's crazy.

Young Hollywood

Do you get so nervous when you're doing like, you don't know if you got the part yet, but you have to act as if you did like, what's that light?

Madison Taylor Baez

I did. I actually, after I audition and like, I get the auditions over with. I'm not gonna lie. I kind of forget about that. I got to forget about them. I move on. And I mean, if I get it, I get it if I don't well, it's it's more experience for me.

Young Hollywood

So do you celebrate in a certain way if I get it? Ice cream candy?

Madison Taylor Baez

Probably no school to school. I mean, maybe Mcdonald's run, which we're not mad, We're not mad at that. Yeah, I probably get some dinner with my family, but I mean, that's, that's about it another day, another day in the life of maddie tails.

Young Hollywood

Ok, great. We're getting low, we'll do one way after this one. When did you know that you were going to be on America's Got Talent? And did you see all the videos and comments of all the viral tiktok of your audition?

Madison Taylor Baez

When did I know a friend? I'm like based on my friend um okay, so I think I knew I'm gonna skip that first part. It's like, it was, it was weird when I first knew I was going to be on because like, I think I wasn't able to tell anybody. I couldn't like all of my family. They're like, oh, Maddie, good luck, you'll do great. Hopefully get in. And I'm like, yeah, fingers crossed. Yeah, okay, now I'm going to phone a friend, dad, literally,

Young Hollywood

You know, it's probably right. He got the June three, probably to the day May 28.

Madison Taylor Baez

Yeah. But yeah, it was, it was kind of weird. I kind of had to keep that a secret from my family. But once I was finally able to tell it was it was good to get out.

Young Hollywood

And did you see all the viral Tiktok? Because there were so many like I obviously saw one, but there were so many of you search your name.

Madison Taylor Baez

I actually, the only thing that I really saw was the Youtube video about it. And once I saw, I think it got a bunch of use and then after that I was like, that's pretty cool. Alright. But yeah, all my parents keep up with that stuff. But yeah, it's crazy.

Young Hollywood

Okay, last one tails you go last, I'll let you look for the tree at the end. Okay. Okay. So you have obviously a lot going on. But what is one major goal that you have?

Madison Taylor Baez

I think I wanna do maybe another Tv show or movie. I really, I really, really enjoy let the right one. So I think I want to do more stuff like that. Yeah, but would you say right now acting or singing or combining them into one? When are you more right now? I think both right now I can't choose between one or the other pretty equal.

Young Hollywood

I mean you started when you were two and you've acted forever. So you know, it's hard to choose if people ask you to sing. You're always down.

Madison Taylor Baez

Yeah, for sure. Yeah, I love singing and especially when I'm able to sing for other people. Yeah.

Young Hollywood

And you're like, you don't get nervous for that usually.

Madison Taylor Baez

No. Unless like Tom Holland's asking me to sing for him then you might be a little bit nervous.

Young Hollywood

Tom tom you want to tell you she will be nervous, but she will sing for you will. You're a rock star. You're amazing. Thank you. We love Maddie. Young man loves maddy. Everybody loves maddy.
