Welcome to Young Hollywood. Hey everybody, Michelle Marie here for Young Hollywood, and we're here at the after party for the premiere of What We Do Is Secret. A movie about one of L. A.' s first punk bands. So let's go talk to some of the stars and see what they have to say.
We're here with BG Phillipph.
Um, I play, um, Lorna Doom, and she's the base player for the punk rock band The Germs. The Germs were a band that was around in, um, the late 70s, early 80s. They really started the punk movement. Well, I booked the role 10 years ago. So I've been attached since I was 17. It's been a long, long process. It was a lot of work and by the end of it, my fingers were blistered and I had tape them and super glued them and I mean, I played the show and halfway through the show my fingers were sweating and the tape was coming off my fingers. So I just bit off all the tape. I was like and like kept rocking out. It was really fun.
We're here with our friend Ashton Holmes.
I play a character named Rob Henley. When we were making the movie, there was all these germs, fans and people that were around the band. So I kind of just tried to like pick everybody's brain and like, you know, ask them what Rob was like and like what other groupies like how they acted.
Yeah, and they're all about rebelling and they obviously were known to be kicked out of clubs, right? Do you ever get kicked out of a club?
I think I tried to use a fake credit card actually, and the bouncer found out, picked me up over his head and threw me out the doors.
We're here with our Young Hollywood friend Shane West.
I play, uh, Darby Crash. This was a very difficult character to get to get into. Very charismatic and he was such an amazing presence on stage that people just wanted to be around him. And they but to try to be able to do it exactly like that is when there's audio and there's video tape. It is difficult, but for me, you know, I mean, I think that's what actors inherently want to do. It's is just is to perform and do something that's not easy. But I did sprain both my ankles. So, um,
How'd you do that?
You know, you're wearing these kind of combat boots that aren't really, you know, good at supportive on your ankles. Sprain one, had have a cast, do another song with the, uh, with a air cast, and while doing that, put all the weight on the other leg, took that one out. And so for the performances of shut down that's in the film, both of my ankles are sprained.
