"The Pefect Host" Serves Up Sundance

All right, what's going on? Chad with Young Hollywood and Vitamin Water. And I'm standing here with the stars of the Perfect Host, David Hyde Pierce and Clayne Crawford. How are you gentlemen doing?

Fantastic.

Excellent. Good to be here. Thank you.

And this show is called the perfect host, but we hear that the character is anything but the perfect host. Could we talk a little bit about that?

The the setup basically is Clayne plays this guy, he robs a bank, and he's looking for a place to hide out, and he comes by my house, and he sort of talks his way in. I'm a guy who's just about to have a dinner party.

Yes, I really thought we'd get along.

I see. So, Julia. That's strange, too. What is? I spoke to her a few days ago. She didn't mention you. And you kind of think that he's the bad guy and I'm this poor innocent victim and then that kind of switches during the movie and then it kind of switches again and then it switches again and it's a movie full of twists and turns.

She usually tells me everything. It's just odd she didn't mention you at all.

Well, I hope she mentions me the next time you guys talk.

Now, David Hyde Pierce, you have a very impressive IMDb resume. Now what and how did you come across this film and what made you choose this Sundance film close to other projects?

The script got sent to me and it was so beautifully written and it's such a great character. It's a character that goes a lot of places and it goes a lot of places that people don't usually see me go. So that was a great opportunity for me and that's what drew me to it. Also I had seen a short that the director had directed and I really liked his style and then I met with him and I really liked his ideas for the film. So that's what brought me to it. I don't you know, it's an independent film. I don't tend to pick my projects based on the medium. It's about the writing and the people I'm going to work with.

Yeah, sorry about Kelly and Adam. They sort of always bring a posse with them whenever they come over.

What do you guys have next? Uh, what's coming up for the year? Can we expect anything else from you guys? New projects? You want to talk about?

Uh, I have 24 this airing right now. Um, and uh Smokin' Aces uh Carnehan did a sequel to uh prequel to Smokin' Aces and uh that just came out last week. So stuck about all that.

So, how has the Sundance experience been for you? Is this your first time as a director up in this particular festival?

Yes, it is. It's uh it's been amazing. I mean, I've never been to Sundance before and I'm here with my first feature film, which is incredible. I can honestly say it's like a once in a lifetime opportunity and experience and I'm really enjoying it.

Are you attacking the gifting suites like I hope you are?

You know, my wife actually asked me about that. She said, she's like, yeah, you're going to this party, going to that. This premiere, that's great. When When when do we get the gifting, you know? But I I I personally have not been doing it, but um my wife actually came into town, so I'm I'm I'm assuming that I will be you know, getting involved in that in some some capacity.
