Melissa Benoist Talks Hope, Fear, & Hearbreak For Supergirl

Okay, so your fans are going crazy over you. And we have a couple fan questions. The first one is from Stephanie and she goes, Supergirl always has such strength through adversity. How has she learned to overcome such heartbreak repeatedly?

I I think that's who she is. I think she doesn't really know any other way, perseverance. First of all, I think it was how she was raised on Krypton by her amazing parents. And because she experienced heartbreak and trauma so young, at age 12 or 13, and she lost everything. I I think the people who experience that kind of hardship in life, you can always tell because they're resilient and they are full of love and hope.

You could pick any three superhero or villain for a battle, who you would save, and then who you'd bring as your sidekick. Who would your top three be? Do they have to be in the DC World?

Any world. Any universe. I think I'd want to see Supergirl go up against Sauron from Mordor. I'd like to see how she would do that. I mean, I guess she would just have to find the ring. Anyway.

But if you could battle as Melissa.

As Melissa. Yeah, Sauron. Or Saruman in Lord of the Rings. I'm a huge Lord of the Rings fan. Save. Oh god, this is hard.

Who's your favorite?

I think I'd want to my favorites are all like So it could be any here. I think I'd want to save Sora from Kingdom Hearts. I'm referencing those two because they're my favorite. Sidekick, Goofy the dog.

That's perfect. That's an epic duo. Comic-Con is known for fans to camp out for all the panels. Who is somebody that you would camp out for?

I mean, I would have camped out, if he was alive, I would have camped out for Gene Kelly. Oh, but he's not really a comic book person.

Doesn't have to be come singing song and dance man. If you can describe in one word what you think is next for Supergirl, what would you say?
