Lori Greiner on Female Empowerment & Why She’s Excited For Shark Tank Season 11

About this video
If there is one thing we have learned through 10 seasons of ABC's hit series "Shark Tank", it's that women are coming into their own in the business world and we are all about it! Championing that movement is none other than the Lady Shark herself, Lori Greiner, and Young Hollywood catches up with her on the set of the show to find out what is in store for Season 11! Sporting a rarely-seen pantsuit (which she makes herself!), Lori talks without us about what she feels is the most rewarding part about her job on the show and she also reveals the three biggest mistakes that entrepreneurs tend to make while pitching their idea. She also discusses that day's Guest Shark, 23andMe CEO Anne Wojcicki, and talks about the importance of female empowerment in the world of business. Plus, she teases how the season premiere of the show encompasses all these issues that she is passionate about!

I am back in the tank with my favorite. I'm not gonna, wait, I saw her back there by the, by the food and I was like, I can't mess up your hair, I can't mess up your makeup. What star, what star do you wanna be on? So good. Yeah. First of all, you're in pants. Is this a, is this a first-time situation?
No, it's just not often. We like to wear pants sometimes but not every time.
Okay, cuz I was gonna say I think this is Yeah, it's like a little thing. I mean, it's not a code, but you know, it's a thing. But you should you look fabulous all the time. And don't you like
Oh, thank you.
Um, everything, literally I'm obsessed with everything she wears.
Well, I make my stuff, you know, most of it.
I was gonna say, do you really make it?
Yes, I do. Most of the outfits I wear on our show I make, which is easy, dresses, pants, not so much. But um, we may, listen, everybody's been asking, I might sell them.
Um, can you please sell that?
Yes, I will. I'll call you. You can let the word out.
Oh my god, can I be your, can I be your
You can be my model.
Your model. Seriously, like, yes. And yeah. You heard it here, you guys. My new job's about to start.
Yes, you can model my clothes.
What's like the most proud moment you've had just being on the show for all these years?
Oh my gosh. Um, most proud moment, you know what I love so much? I love when my entrepreneurs do well. I love when I have a great success story. I love when I can celebrate with them, you know. And also um, seeing the effect on their families, you know. Like I've watched so many of them buy and build homes. I've watched so many of them put their kids through college. I get to really reap the reward of actually seeing that life passage. And so that's the most rewarding.
You've seen so many pitches now. It's been probably thousands at this point.
Thousands. Literally thousands.
Is there a mistake that entrepreneurs still make when they come into the tank? That you're just like, "Oh my gosh. How are you?"
I think there are three mistakes they make. One, they come in with too big an ask. You know, like they they have no sales and they have a $10 million valuation. That's crazy and they know they're gonna have a problem. I think not knowing their stuff is always a problem. Like you should be so prepared because you know to study, you know to watch. And if you don't, you know what's gonna happen? Um, nothing. Um, and I think they probably also, I find they make a mistake when they get rude. Now, I I know that's a weird thing to say, but you know, if you're trying to win friends and influence others and get a partner, you certainly should not be mean, rude or have an attitude because
Especially to the nicest shark right here.
Because I'm gonna run. Like, why would I want you as a partner? So um, I think that's another mistake. Now also, there's a lot of female empowerment going on. I mean today, as it would be.
Yeah. Exactly. What's your take, just 'cause I feel like it's such a hot topic right now, just female female empowerment.
I'm constantly shocked that women are even considered a minority. I'm absolutely shocked they are. I mean, they are considered a minority. Um, I'm shocked that any of that is even still going on. And I am bound and determined in the next handful of years to make a real impactful change on that and help a lot of other women. And I have initiatives that I will be doing, so please just follow me on my social media and you will find them out. And if we all band together and we get a train going, you know, we are half the population. We could really make a change and and have great influence. So all we have to do is just band together.
I love that. I love everything about that. That's true. Um, do you have a favorite guest shark that's come in that just has inspired you?
It's very, very hard to pick favorites, okay? Because, you know, that'll get me in trouble. Um, I will speak of today, Ann has been on today and she's absolutely a delight and I really, really like her. And of course, her story's fabulous. And now, of course, I'm I'm saying everybody and everything this season has been terrific. It's probably one of my favorite seasons ever. I haven't seen the edited versions but I know the pitches and I know what went on in here. And it is truly one of my favorite seasons in a long time.
You're making me so anxious now. I can't wait for the premiere.
I can't wait. I can't wait. And the premiere is one of one of my favorite deals ever. Oh, sneak peek, guys. The premiere has one of my favorite deals ever and you will see it tie in everything I just told you. You will understand when you watch it. It ties in everything I just told you about women and about being together and about empowerment and about ingenuity and about heart and soul and feeling good. And a perfect pitch. Oh my God, it was everything.
Congratulations to you, though, with everything. I feel like you
Thank you, thank you.
You're everything so inspiring. To see you. To next time. Till next time. Stay tuned. Shark Tank season 11.
