Hey guys it's Tracy with Young Hollywood and I am sitting with the man himself, Damon John.
Back in the Shark Tank. Back in the tank. Back in the tank.
Fourth time. You realize I've been here four times now?
You have. You've been supporting us always and and uh keeping things going. Thank you. Thank you for being here.
Oh, well thank you for I feel like I'm like an honorary shark actually right now. Yeah. You're way better than Kevin, so thank you. Kevin, sorry. The seat is officially mine now. One can dream I guess, right? Hmm.
Absolutely. You never know.
Uh well speaking of dreams, it's uh a decade of dreams.
Yeah, this a 10 seasons, a decade of dreams. So many people have walked through those doors, you know, behind you guys and so many people have uh you know, walked out of those doors too.
Yeah. Well, you have made a lot of those dreams come true yourself. Yeah. So this is great. I mean do you have like looking back on the whole decade, just like any moment or highlight or experience that's really stood out to you?
So many. We've we've seen thousands of pitches but you know my one with Billy Blanks who I had to run out after him because I didn't think he understood the pitch and um you know uh his wife and we're in tears or the one where we witnessed the Scrub Daddy um that Lori uh you know, bought into and and he did almost
Well, one of the most successful ones, right?
Yeah. And he did almost like an infomercial right there, right? And and I just he was just such a rockstar. So, so so many and then I can't count how many um how many royalty offers Kevin has had over 10 years. Robert who's hiding over there. Robert likes to eat everything and everything is fantastic when he eats it.
Robert is eating. Amazing. Amazing. How speaking of the last pitch, you guys were eating like the entire time. I mean Mark was literally non-stop.
Yes. Mark was Mark can't ever have anything because uh he's um uh lactose intolerant so if he has anything with lactose then it's miserable up here for the rest of the panel for quite some time after the pitch.
Yeah. And you have to sit next to him. I feel like the whole show, what's so interesting about it is that it constantly is evolving with just business and entrepreneurship in America. Do you think that's kind of what's kept it so relevant and real?
100% because it's real people getting up here and it's real people that are doing business today that is totally different. You know Instagram, I don't think was really around when we started.
It wasn't. I was gonna say.
And now people are converting sales on Instagram like that's their retailer, right? How many companies have gone out of business since we started, the Toys R Us's of the world and the Blockbusters of the world, right? So you have to find different uh channels of distribution. So, you know, as things changed, these amazing entrepreneurs come up here and they know how to adapt with them and I'm learning from them as well.
Well, speaking of your Instagram, let's just talk about that for a second because your stories are literally if you don't follow Damon on Instagram, check it out. Behind the scenes. You're behind the scenes. Where you just like somebody just said you want you're one of the top Instagram accounts for like business, motivational
I am. Yeah, yeah, something came out and showed that I have one of the top Instagram accounts for business and motivation. It's just you know, it's my life and it's just I'm doing something I love and I try to share it with everybody the same as all my other fellow sharks. I mean the reason they're up here is because they get to invest in other people's dreams and other people let us ride along with their dreams so it's really just an amazing feeling. And and I was on that carpet, you know, 30 years ago in my life, you know.
So, in honor of season 10, I know everything's about the entrepreneurs pitching you on why you should partner with them. Let's turn the tables around for a second and I want to give you 10 seconds to pitch yourself on why you are the shark that they should partner with.
Well, first of all, yeah, I'm yeah, I'm the youngest shark. The rest of them are going to be dead soon. Um, you know, I'm the one that that is uh just the coolest but I I wish I could just pitch myself. However, what I realized is that a person comes up here is the perfect person with the perfect company meets with the perfect shark that fits their vision. I've seen Lori and Robert and and Mark going to things that I would say would never work but because they had the same vision as the entrepreneur, it worked. Right? I've seen things that I can I said, "Oh, I can do this really easily" and I found out that you know what? I don't know enough about that business. I should have minded my business. So, I I wish I could pitch myself but it really becomes uh the perfect shark meets the perfect person with the perfect idea at the perfect time.
And that is why he is the shark. The people shark. Have you ever fallen asleep in your chair on set?
They feed us so much food but literally I I fell asleep. It was one of those times when Kevin was giving a royalty deal and I knew how it was going to end up. I fell asleep.
Never have I ever played a prank on a fellow shark.
Daily to Kevin. I've taken his book. I hide his pen. I put food under his car.
