Kal Penn presents to Brandon Routh

Our next honoree, Brandon Routh, came out of nowhere, which I think is a horrible way to describe anyone's mother. Now, from Harold and Kumar Go to White Castle, please welcome the hilarious Kal Penn.

I'm proud to present the next award to a close friend who will soon require no introduction. An Iowan who moved to LA six years ago, Brandon is no stranger to the daily grind faced by most actors. He was enrolled in acting classes. He was bartending nights to pay rent, and along the way he booked short films and guest spots on network TV. And then he booked Superman Returns. It's rare to find a young actor with the type of dedication that Brandon has when it comes to his work. When we were roommates during the Superman shoot, rather than grabbing drinks at a bar or staying up late after a day of filming, Brandon, his cousin Kevin and I would order takeout, play video games, watch an episode of Buffy, and be in bed by 10:00 for a 6:00 a. m. call. Except for Brandon, who would get up at 4:30 in the morning to exercise or do yoga before he had to be on set. Returning uh after a year in Australia shooting the film, it seems that the only thing that's changed about Brandon is that he no longer has to work at Lucky Strike, so now we can't drink for free or bowl or That sucks, man.

It's kind of weird to be up here in front of you guys because um you just heard about as much as you know about me from him. Um and um unless of course you saw when I left to live four years ago. Um But I don't imagine we have a lot of soap opera fans here. Um I want to thank Bryan Singer and Warner Brothers for trusting me and allowing me to be a part of this amazing film in an iconic role. Uh, I'd like to thank my managers Stu and Tracy, my agents Tracy and Billy, uh my friends and family that are here, um and have supported me. Uh, and also my amazing girlfriend, Courtney.
