Co-Hosts Charli D'Amelio & Nate Burleson Get Ready For The KCAs

What's up young Hollywood today, we're behind the scenes of the 2023 kids Choice Awards where we're gonna be talking to charlie d'Amelio and Nate Burleson about what it's like co hosting this year's awards.

How are you guys feeling with a stage behind you?

I mean, so exciting walking in this room and actually seeing the stage this year for the first time is so exciting and making it very real, realizing that it's so soon, you know, I mean, it's so incredible.

It was just, it seemed like yesterday that we got the news and we were shooting promos and talking about what the show was going to look like and now we get to see it in real time.

This is going to be a wild ride.

I think it's going to be one of the coolest award shows that you have ever seen.

So make sure you stay tuned because we got some stuff up our sleeves and charlie, you've recently you won Dancing with the Stars.

So you were in front of a crowd, you host every single morning.

So how is this a different stage for you guys?

I mean, last time when I went on stage for the Kids Choice Awards, I you know, I got a little emotional because you never when you're doing stuff on social media, you never get to see the people that are voting for you for these things and first year I came, it was just my parents there because they couldn't have an audience.

So, you know, I'm so excited to be able to, you know, just let it sink in and have the time on stage to really get to see everyone and it's going to be such a great environment with such positive and you know, high energy, especially with what we've got coming, so it's gonna be great.

Yeah, and she makes a good point, like, you know, it's high energy, it's a positive vibe do tv every day and it's morning news and sometimes news can be heavy.

So it's great to have a night where you can lighten the mood and just have fun laugh and be a fan of the moment.

Um you know, I'm not just a host, but there's gonna be so many people, so many shows and movies and and categories that I'm a fan of, that.

I'll be watching just like everybody else.

Yeah.

And speaking of categories, so you're nominated alongside your older sister Dixie.

So what is it like in the household when you find out about like, you're kind of up against each other, you know, what's competition?

Like, you know, we live together.

So there's that whole part of siblings being together, 24 7, you know, I will say the rivalry comes with like you ate my food that was mine.

Um there's never usually rivalry with this and I think that's something really nice that my sister and I have and you know, she's nominated in two categories, so she's got she's got her thing and I've got my thing and you know end of the day, if she wins, I'm gonna be there right next to her, supporting her and you know, she's gonna be here watching whatever we do on the same, is she gonna be in attendance?

Absolutely.

If she went say are you gonna make sure she gets slimed?

I mean my goal always is, you know, she's my older sister as an older sister, you know, she's got to put me in place and be like, you can't wear that, like come on, let's get it together.

So this is my time to really fight back and be like, I didn't know that that was gonna happen.

You got to, that's crazy.

So hoping for the best.

You know, I'll talk to my people about that, no doubt what works nothing else.

You have 11 years in the NFL, what is game day preparation like vs preparation for something like the KCS?

Okay, so game day preparation, I'm watching film on my opponents.

You know, I'm trying to figure out how to beat in certain defense and I'm thinking about what I'm, what to do when I score.

Like it's very intense here.

I'm not watching tape on other players.

I'm watching tape of the old shows that I used to love, I'm watching like rugrats and doug and ren and stimpy just getting myself in the mindset of a kid who loves Nickelodeon.

So um for me it's just, it's just getting ready for a wild ride and letting it happen, you know what I mean?

Not forcing anything, just, you know, enjoying it as the people are enjoying it while they're watching and we heard your two sons are playing in a championship basketball game on the same night, guys in New Jersey too busy, too busy for dad.

Yeah, they're too busy.

They're like, you know what, we're going to stay and win this, but I thank them because when I initially was offered this job, I went to him and I said, if you guys make it the entire fire way and you get to the championship, I might not be there.

And they told me to still host the show.

We love that we love family support, family support and back to family.

Okay, so Dixie, we know up against you, but you have recently released a single, Dixie has music out, would you guys ever co write a song and perform it one year at the CIA's?

Oh my goodness, whoa, that's, I mean, I, I spend a lot of time with my sister, you know where siblings, roommates, best friends, I, I love working with her, it's really refreshing to always have a familiar face whether it's on set or doing anything and I just love being around her while she creates and I feel like I've really watched her come out of her shell this past year, you know, going on tour with big time rush and all, all that stuff.

It's been so amazing to watch her and she's definitely she's got some great stuff coming and I'm so excited to see what she does next.

And I'm so happy to be a part of her journey as much as I can.

Oh my goodness, you know what?

You know, are we gonna expect to sign together or?

Yeah, I mean there's gonna be so much slime and no one is safe.

I'm too trying to keep my family as optimistic as I can, being like, I don't know what's happening at the show, but you know, we'll see when we get there, they didn't tell me when I was getting slimed and everyone else knew.

So it's payback, It's payback.

Okay.

And also little Baby might be there B b rex, it's nominated.

You never know who's going to show up at the KCS, so who's one person that you're most looking forward to seeing?

I mean, I love baby, she's been a mentor, Big Sister from right when I started social media and she's just been such a kind soul, really like inviting me in to be help and ask questions and you know, I'm excited to see her, she's she's just such a huge part of my heart and I love her full circle.

Yeah, yeah.

Adam.

Sandler is going to be in the building and I'm a big fan of him to stand up his movies on top of that.

Adam if you're watching this, I'm going to ask you for a role in your movie.

I'm just telling you right now, just so it's not awkward.

You know what I mean?

I'm gonna run up on you.

I'm gonna say, hey, what's up?

I'm a big fan and then I'm going to proceed to make my plea to be in a movie.

Okay adam warning.

That's adam be prepared for that.

You have time probably to take on a whole movie roll to your right.

What?

How long does it actually take to get the slime fully out of your hair?

Oh, that's a good now listen, we got a different type of hair texture or off your body, you know I mean I got the braids, my stuff kind of traps in moisture.

The extensions though, there's a lot of extensions in my hair.

If we're being honest here, it's in it's in your ears everywhere.

It's everywhere.

It's tough.

But that shower after definitely is like a good one.

It's a little cold slime.
