Breakthrough Awards Pre-Show 2

I'm presenting an award to Jeremy Pivens as a breakthrough actor, which is very ironic because, you know, Jeremy has been around for I think as long as most of us.

We just talked to Terrence Howard. He's very happy to give you this award.

Oh, man. That's beautiful. What an honor. Well, it's um, you know, he's the kind of actor that is completely inspiring to me because he's like a lot of people sometimes actors get a bad rap for whatever reason, um, maybe because of all the gravy and the trappings that go along with being an actor, but a guy like that's the real deal. He just does his work. Every time you see him in something, he's really specific and great and it's an honor to be even in the company with someone like Terrence Howard. It really is. I'm with the show, man. Private bit. I'm the private. I'm telling you I'm getting an award tonight, man. I know people, man. And people know me.

So we're hanging out with Morgan, I got to ask you what are you eating here at the cocktail party?

You know not a lot of eating. I ate before I came. So a lot of drinking now and not a lot of eating.

So you back to like normal eating now?

I am. You know my body's back to normal, you know, no fast food. I don't eat any fast food but I love a good burger, you know, now and then.

Was it more challenging working with Robin Williams, Oscar award winner, or your wife on House of D?

Oh, well, that's an easy question. Uh it was it was harder working with Robin just because I'm married to Tea. If I was married to Robin, I'd give you the opposite answer.

You might go a little loopy if you were married to Robin.

Yeah, because he's cute.

We're still here at the cocktail party. I don't know, am I safe getting in between the two of you? I'm a little afraid.

So what's what's going on with you guys?

Well, I haven't seen Maggie for about a month and that's why I'm here basically to see her.

So what are you most looking forward to here tonight?

This is the only way I can get someone to present. Yeah, right. Be like well, I'll be there. And otherwise, you don't get to see me ever.

No, I saw you like two weeks ago. It felt like a month.

All right. Are we having a little lovers' quarrel here?

No no no. Nothing as petty as that. But I just I just want to make sure that people know tonight what those people are going to miss and lost, you know what I mean?

What are they going to be missing?

Just bloody terrible.

Um I feel pretty special. You never I don't know. I don't know where it came from. I like it though.

Are you excited that your character Finn on 24 finally got to move from behind the desk and do some really physical stuff last year?

Yeah. You guys I thought they were going to uh fire me after like a week. So then I got to shoot a gun and a lot of fake typing.

Yes. I don't believe this is Ton of the Clown though. You don't look like Ton of the Clown to me. You got

That's why he incognito right now. I've seen you before in action and you don't look like you. He incognito right now. Ton of the Clown is just speeding. And this is his This is some random dude that's trying to steal like. He got pulled over because he was driving his car to the clown mobile because he got too many bookings.

What are you looking most forward to here?

Oh man, it's you know, all of it. It's this is like icing on the cake. Doing the film was probably one of the best experience in my life. So, stuff like this, you know, getting awards, things but giving awards to the to the dancers.

Everyone has said you've had a breakthrough year which of course you have. Who else do you think has had one that hasn't been recognized yet that should be? Anyone you've done some of these films with?

Oh, I mean, you have Sean too, Michael Peña, all these cats from Crash. You know, so many of them. Taraji P. Henson from Hustle & Flow, you've got well Jake Gyllenhaal has been in everything, you know, and and I I I never cease to be amazed by his abilities.

Thanks. I don't know what to say. You know I did a documentary called Pimp My Basket. That's why I'm here to get an award for the basket of the year.

There's two of you. How excited because we just like to tag team everyone and just And the fabulous Mr. You just get the mics in the face. I guess very excited to be giving you this award tonight because not only is he your co-star, but he's a big fan as well. I don't know if you knew that.

I paid him to say that, but I'm so glad that he learned his lines. So that's excellent.

How challenging for you was it to to be a woman playing a man who is trying to become a woman? How challenging was it? Yes.

It was very challenging. It was um, it was sort of uh it felt unscalable at first. It felt impossible and uh I didn't quite know how to jump into it but you know, I uh immersed myself in the world of um the transgendered community and do the best I could.

So I can honestly say, Julie, that you're a race car driver? Is that is that safe to say?

That is very safe to say.

Is it really tough on your body? Because you're like a little petite little thing and driving this like big massive car.

Some of the cars are pretty tough. Uh the Subaru honestly is one of the best cars to race. It's real safe all wheel drive. We never have problems going out on the track. So um it's definitely one of the best cars out there.

What's the fastest you've gone?

Um, I've been 9. 20 at 154 mph in the Subaru STI.
