Hey, what's up, guys? We are hanging out in the Young Hollywood studio with Lauren Skye. How's it going?
Going pretty good. How about yourself?
We were just talking about this white couch. You were saying that you've got three dogs at home that you can't let on your white furniture.
I do. Correct. I got a bully pitbull, so she's about yay high, about 70 lbs, and I got two Maltese. It's just one can't get up. So my my pit literally can't get up on the couch, which is good. But my my two little dogs, we they just jump on everything.
You've got that Super Bowl glow, I do have to say. What is it like knowing that you helped your team get to the Super Bowl? It's got to be a great feeling.
Oh, it's amazing. That's what we play the game for. You play the game to go to that that show, and and every single training camp, practice, it's all worth it once you get there. And then to win it, you you have to understand once you win it, I think once we knew we won the game, they missed the field goal. I'm like, oh, we're going to win this. We got to touch it like cool. And once we're about to knee on the ball, all I could think about in my head was like, what do I do with my helmet? Like, do you throw your helmet? Do you keep your helmet? What do you do with this helmet?
Yeah, what do you do?
Oh, you just throw it. You have to throw it up in the air. So like no, you can't throw it in the air cuz it might hit you. Throw it at someone else. That went in my head too. I'm like, what if I just boom? I'm like, no, so I I remember I threw my helmet. I'm like, I geez, I hope someone grabs my helmet.
Well, good thing you didn't do it too soon, like before you knew you won, you like threw your helmet up. Hold on.
It has to be We knew we won as soon as we you know, when you're about to knee on the ball, you got a couple of seconds and you know you won. Yeah. The emotions are this like, hey, what are we going to do? Yeah. And this is amazing. Then the confetti gets shot in the air. You're like, holy crap, this is great. Then I remember I got to keep my helmet. I got home, I put it in a bag. I legit took my helmet out the bag to to put it on a thing, and I see the confetti just coming out. Oh, man. And I'm like, oh, this is awesome. There's still some confetti left here. You should have got it on video. That's so cool.
Yeah, it was amazing. Best experience ever.
That's such a special time.
It truly is. Better than losing.
Oh, yeah. I'm sure, yeah.
Been there too. That sucks.
Um, time and time again, I keep hearing about the word consistent when it comes to you that you're a very consistent player. How do you maintain that consistency?
You train to be better and better. And that's the whole aspect when you when you play this game. Every offseason, you have to work on something. You figure that out, you work on it. You continue to just change your craft around a little bit. You know, this might work this year. This might work next year. You have to see how their game plan is and how you need to game plan them and how you could get the upper hand. And that's basically what I look at life. I'm like, how can I uh study this playbook differently? What can I look at tendencies? Can I train a little bit better? Can I uh move this way if I put my foot that way, if I move my head over here. What these little things might do to improve my game. And once I do that, you could consistently go on a ride, and you got great teammates around you and great coaches. You can't complain. It's like you're just going to continue to get better and better.
It was reported that the Patriots were having some free agents coming in today, um, Alan Bailey. How would you feel about playing alongside him?
Yeah, I know they're going to come in here, and they're going to look at the organization as it is. The organization as a whole, we're a family. Yeah. We do everything one sound. Um, and once you buy into that, you understand what the goal is. The goal ain't, hey, can we get all these stats? That's not the goal of any player on the team. The goal is to win the game. Cuz stats don't mean you're going to win. The bowl that you're trying to go to the win is the main goal. So I'll be great to play against anybody who has that passion.
It was funny too, I was reading about um, Michael Bennett. Did you hear his thing where he's like, I used to hate the Patriots. I used to hate Tom Brady's long hair. Now I'm part of the Patriots team, and I love Tom Brady's long hair. I love being a winner. It was so funny. Do you hear him say that? Like it must be a good feeling to know, yeah, you're part of a winning team.
Once you get a part of that team, Yeah. You're like I understand why they win. Yeah. I get it. They're doing stuff that other teams are not doing, other organizations don't do. So being a part of it, it's gotta be great. amazing. Yeah. You see Belichick. I haven't been in a meeting with him and and and listen to him talk. Great experience. You know, it's and you have to have broader shoulders. Yeah. To be on this team, and I know once my come in and he's going to be like, man, this is I understand this is what it takes to win games.
Yeah, he kept saying something about Belichick's sweaters. Does he wear a lot of sweaters?
Belichick's signature cut off sweater. I never understood it, but now I got like four of them like I like you got so many movements. It's so free. Like you don't got this restriction on here. Like I love these sweaters. Like, can I get some more? They just cut off the sleeves on all of them.
We love sweaters, you guys. We love sweaters. Well, thank you so much. Thanks for coming in. It was great talking to you. Happy early birthday.
Thank you. Thanks for having me.
