Laker Stars on Beating the Celtics

Congratulations on winning against the Celtics.

It's got to have been one of the best moments of your career.

Tell me the moments that were the most memorable.

You know, we don't like to lose anything.

You know, whether it's chess or checkers and well, someone beats you, you always want to play them again and have the opportunity to beat them, so um, but, um, franchises like historic, um, a lot of tradition.

Um, and it was a great series. went down seven games. We went down 13 points.

Um it's great for the city. It's all about.

How do you feel about the league shaking up this season?

I mean, upcoming season's going to be a little bit different with LeBron over the whole team over at Miami.

Do you see Miami and Lakers coming together for the finals?

You know, yeah, hopefully we can take care of what we need to take care of.

You know, and hopefully they have a great season.

Yeah, and Amar's just decided to go to the Nets.

How do you feel about this decision?

Um, it's a business opportunity for and um, you know, he's at that point of his career.

He wants two championships.

And that's what he's doing for himself and his family.

Congratulations on winning the championships with Once again, with the Lakers.

How do you feel about the time that you spent with them?

Feel great.

You know, we had a great time together.

Uh, four years.

I learned a lot.

I accomplished a lot.

Help the organization get back to championship level, which was which was big for me growing up as a kid in LA and being a Laker fan and um, you know, I had nothing but great memories there.

Yeah.

And I have to say this year was pretty sweet because you beat the Celtics again and I what you've always wanted to do was to beat the Celtics again.

It was time, right?

It was time.

They got us in 2008.

Uh, they made us work for it this time around.

It made it that much sweeter at the end.

So I have to say congratulations on the big move to the Nets.

What was it about the Nets that drew you to the team?

The fact that I'm going to get a chance to to do a little more.

Uh, the owner and organization now are committed to winning.

They're trying to do everything in their power to to build a team.

They have a young team on the rise, so I think it's it's they have nowhere to go but up and I'm trying to be one of the people to help.

So, how do you feel about your position coming into the new team and with the people that have already been there as far as the other players?

I feel I feel good.

You know, I know exactly what I bring to the table.

Um, everybody's kind of trying to figure it out.

We have a new coach.

We have a new owner.

Um, so it's it's a rebuilding process and I'm happy to be a part of it.

I know J-Z was also trying to get LeBron to go to the team, but now you get to play him.

How are you excited about that?

I've played him before.

You know, I've been in the league for four years, so uh, yeah, they're going to be good down in Miami.

Uh, J-Z's my guy, so it'd be cool to have him in the sidelines every game and it'd be fun.

The decision you made in having to leave Kobe and all of guys.

What was it as far as you being able to handle, like, having to leave something that you've been such a part of as far as California and being there for so long.

It's going to be tough.

You know, I I love all those guys.

We've been through so much together.

And I've spoken to all of them and wished them the best.

I know they're going to be really great this year.

Um, and they did the same for me.

They want me to want to see me be successful, excuse me.

And uh, you know, make strides in my career.

That's all I'm trying to do.

Except everybody.

I had a great time here in Los Angeles.

We did a lot of great things.
