NHL Star Cam York: From SoCal to Philly

New York Flyers. Uh, Anaheim Boys, Southern California, young Hollywood. Good to see you out here in Jersey.

Yeah, it's uh, it's great to be here. Good to see you and um, really excited for tomorrow.

Now, how was practice on the ice at MetLife Stadium? This is epic.

It was, it was epic, yeah. Really fun. My first outdoor experience on ice. So, um, I'm really excited. Definitely a little bit of a an adjustment to get used to just the scenery and um, the outdoor ice, but uh, overall just uh, a great experience.

I don't know, outdoor ice reminds me of young kids playing on frozen ponds. Even across the way, they have like a NHL street for ball hockey. Uh, talk about like you growing up playing hockey. Was it street hockey, ball hockey, all ice?

Yeah. For me, because I grew up in Southern California, it was roller hockey. I actually had a little roller rink in my backyard, so I was playing hockey uh, outdoors essentially, but um, a little bit different uh, scenario here with just MetLife and and how epic this is, but um, I I do have a little bit of experience, I guess, playing outdoors.

Now, talk about Anaheim to Philly. It's a little different.

Much different, yeah. Um, obviously the weather, that's the main thing. Um, for me, I feel like the beaches are a lot different out east than on the West Coast. Um, but it's been great. I think it's been a good change of scenery for me and um, you know, I go back home to California every summer, so um, I love it out there. I, you know, want to retire out there, so um, yeah, I love it, but this is uh, been a great place for me and um, been really happy with my experience here so far.

So locker rooms are known to be cool. Everyone's buddies, but then someone gets traded. It's kinda weird 'cause they don't know people. But Jamie comes in, he knows everybody now 'cause of you.

So, Trevor Zegras, who's on the Ducks now, he used to live uh, in my house and him and Jamie were best friends. And um, this was Trevor's first year with the Ducks and Jamie would always be over at our house and he um, spending time with my family and that's kind of how I got to know Jamie originally and then uh, this past summer we went to a bunch of concerts together and um, had a blast. So, he's a great kid, um, great hockey player and we're we're really happy to have him. So.

Okay, you said the word concert. When Jamie gets back, I'm gonna play a game with both of you. It's gonna be called Jonas Brothers lyric or Torterella quote. Oh boy. But I'm gonna wait till you guys can like maybe, you know, discuss your answer first.

Yeah, okay. I think you might be stumped on a few. Sounds like an interesting game, but uh, I'm looking forward to it.
