Young Hollywood

Welcome to Young Hollywood. Hey guys, it's Michelle Murray coming to you from the SB Style studio. I'm here with Jozy Altidore. I'm not gonna say he's "out the door" because he's in the door right now. Coming back from South Africa. I'm already clowning you. Is that bad?

Jozy Altidore

Yeah, a little bit, but I can take it, I'm a big boy.

Young Hollywood

So congratulations on the success. I mean you guys were at the World Cup, what a huge, huge honor I'm sure it was to be there. Tell me about your experience.

Jozy Altidore

Oh, I loved it. I had a great time there. From me growing up it was a big dream to play in the World Cup and for a lot of the guys as well. So we all had a great time and It was an unbelievable experience but, you know hopefully we can do better a little bit next time.

Young Hollywood

Well, you guys went really far. I have to say Landon, I mean, he he he pulled through for you guys.

Jozy Altidore

Um, it was tough, you know. Um, you know, obviously when you go out of anything, you know, you're there to win. So to leave early was, it was tough for a lot of the guys, but I think we took that next step towards raising the profile of the game in America. So at the end of the day, we gotta be happy with it.

Young Hollywood

Now it's got to be a little bit different playing, you know, against other countries and there's so much passion involved in all of it. How would you compare it, you know, to playing here in the US or anywhere else?

Jozy Altidore

I don't think there's a comparison. I think that's what makes the World Cup so unique. You have, uh, you know, 32 countries competing for one thing and I think that's why the world really stops and it really stops a lot of things when it's going on so it's an honor to play in it and, hopefully I can be a part of it for a lot more to come.

Young Hollywood

So, what do the horns really sound like? Were these loud?

Jozy Altidore

They were like bees. Seriously like bees. You want to watch the game like if you walk through the airport, you just got to listen to that sound and that's it. So.

Young Hollywood

Was that distracting for you or what was it like?

Jozy Altidore

I mean, it is what it is because I think, uh, it's unique for South Africa, it brings a little mix to the to the World Cup, which is deserved because it's in their homeland. So I I don't have a problem with it. No. It's cool.

Young Hollywood

So you come back strong, no injuries, no cuts and bruises. You're good? Body's looking good.

Jozy Altidore

I'm all right. So.

Young Hollywood

So what now? I mean you're here for the ESPYS. Are you excited to see, uh, all the people this weekend and different sports? Who are you really excited to see?

Jozy Altidore

I'm excited, you know. A lot of old faces, a lot of, you know, new guys. You know, a lot of people I saw last year, you know, a lot of friends. So it's exciting for everybody to come around, you know, for a little bit a couple days and hang out and catch up and it's cool.

Young Hollywood

You're probably getting totally stalked now you're back from the World Cup, yeah?

Jozy Altidore

No, I mean it's always a good thing happy to be recognized, the good things you're doing.

Young Hollywood

All right. Well, thanks for everything and repping the country, right, you know?
