Young Hollywood

What's up, guys? Leslie Robbins here for Young Hollywood. I'm at one of my favorite events of the year. It is the Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach Pro Celebrity race. So, we got some of your favorite stars driving really fast cars.

Hot Stars

So, this year, you're not a celebrity anymore. You are the pro. You're the winner. You're the pro.

Young Hollywood

It's a lot to A lot to live up to. Yeah. By the way, I have these fans. Are those mine? You're probably the funniest woman I know, but this car is absolutely no joke.

Hot Stars

Car is not a joke. No. Not at all. This is real real stuff here.

Young Hollywood

The top speed you're going in that car?

Hot Stars

Uh, over a hundred down the straightaway for sure. During training up at Willow Springs, we're hitting about ninety-five to a hundred down the straightaway, so, before downshifting. It's fun.

Young Hollywood

What kind of high do you get? An adrenaline junkie, I would think.

Hot Stars

A A bit, you know? And the And the competition's great out here. It's a great group of uh participants. You know, a lot of camaraderie, but there's also a lot of competition. Jessie's gearing up for a tough ride out there.

Young Hollywood

Which one is she? I don't know her. Does she do those daytime shows?

Hot Stars

Jesse really wants to win, but he doesn't realize he's got to drive the car in order to win. Let's focus for a second. We're all out here for one real reason. For the kids. My kids. They want to see daddy race. No. Oh, the kids in the hospital, yeah.

Young Hollywood

What type of skills can you bring to a race car that you have everyday on the 405?

Hot Stars

Uh, skills that I'm not allowed to use. Uh, skills that I've wondered if I had, if if the rules of the road weren't as they were. I do enjoy rolling through stop signs, which I've gotten tickets for before. It's really pleasurable. It's a really fun thing to do. I I love I'm I'm completely enamored with the uh learning the technique of it. It's really I just find it really stimulating and cool. I drive a little too fast, honestly. I've been told that you're supposed to have a little bit of fear back there, but I don't have much. And that's not a good thing. Cuz the walls get very close, very fast.

Young Hollywood

Feeling you get inside when you're going that fast?

Hot Stars

Uh, holy crap, holy crap, holy crap.

Young Hollywood

Okay, well, now that you are a pro athlete, how are you fueling your body up for stuff like this?

Hot Stars

Well, I drank a uh fifth of Myers Dark Rum before I got in for practice. But it's starting to wear off. Um I keep it a big gulp cup. Where is that cup? It's a lot of In-N-Out Burger. Uh, a lot of Chick-fil-A, cuz I'm from the South. It's a pretty strict regimen to to get a body like this uh chiseled out of flab. It's not It's not for everybody. Clearly, I am not a California kid. Lots of corndogs. Uh, funnel cakes. This morning, it was a banana, peanut butter, and blueberry smoothie. You know? Little espresso. Okay, I lied. A lot of espresso. Maybe not too much caffeine. You don't want to be uh jittery in there. You want to be pretty relaxed. Gotta get the metabolism going fast, to get the car going fast. Drinking a lot of water. They said that's good. So, drinking some water, trail mix. I don't I have no idea what race car drivers eat, man. I don't know. I, you know.

Young Hollywood

Max, you're the Grand Marshal. What does that mean exactly?

Hot Stars

I honestly don't know. I don't know. I'm guessing it's the one in the pace car in front and, you know, who says, "Start your engines." It's really exciting. I was actually supposed to be one of the drivers, but I couldn't commit to all the days of training, although I got my driver's license in Brooklyn, and I think that qualifies me to just, you know, enter a race as a pro rider automatically.

Young Hollywood

So, if you could have it your way, how do you foresee the race going?

Hot Stars

Um, everybody's alive. I'll be honest. I'm ready to win. I mean, it's all fun and games, but I just need to win without having anyone mad at me afterwards. That's the art of racing. I'd love to win, obviously, you know? Just I I don't want to hit a wall. That's my main priority. I I'd win, of course. But either that or or I'd let Jenna Elfman win. She's a nice girl. I think if you just stay in like third or fourth the whole time out there, just kinda hang back, wait til about the last lap. Whoever's in front of you is probably gonna crash each other trying to get to first. And then you can just scoop right around them and be back next year as a pro. If I could have it my way, I'd have me coming in fourth, cuz I have super low self-esteem. What kind of question is that? If I could have it my way.

Young Hollywood

Kenny, it's an honor to be here next to you, because you're a pro, obviously, and I'm driving with the best.

Hot Stars

Yeah, but Leslie, I'm happy you're here. And although I've ran quite a few races, what I'm excited about is this is going to be your first time around the uh Toyota Long Beach Grand Prix road course, which is a very popular road course.

Young Hollywood

Okay, here we are. We're in the Toyota Camry. It's got a little better brakes. It is a street car right off the production line, but we put some roll bars in it. That way, we can go from about a one hundred and twenty mile an hour down to ten or twenty mile an hour. It's a street course. I mean, we're gonna be going really fast, just where everybody drives every day. I got this helmet. What am I supposed to do to take this little journey we're gonna take right now?

Hot Stars

You ever heard of accidents? Let's see what you look like with a helmet. Let me see. Watch your earrings. Now, look. You look like Speed Racer. Look in the camera. Go, Speed Racer! Go, Speed Racer, go! She's coming at you like she's never looking back. Go, Speed Racer.

Young Hollywood

Can I drive the car now?

Hot Stars

Baby, you can drive my car. Yeah, she wants to be a star.

Young Hollywood

Can I drive?

Hot Stars

Baby, I love you.

Young Hollywood

Okay. Yes, I've been in the pace car before, but not with you behind the wheel. This is going to be quite the experience. I'm so excited. And let me tell you something. You ain't never gone this fast. Are you ready to be a scared? Oh, my God. Or as we say in NASCAR land, are you skeered? I'm scared. Here we go. We'll be back. See you next week on Hee Haw. Woo! This will be all right. Are you ready? Watch this. Over a hundred miles an hour. Oh, my God! I'm just I'm speechless. My mouth is dry. Amazing.

Hot Stars

She got on the tail end of a of a real deal. We We were all over them, weren't we? I I was speechless. She said, "Don't run into them." And then, you know, you get on those street courses and like I see the hotel that I'm staying at. I'm like, "You wanna go to the hotel?" Of course, the cops would have been mad at us cuz we'd have smashed you the tire barrier. If we'd have done that, we should have just kept on going to L. A. and get the helicopters after us. Epic journey. Epic journey. Amazing. Bye, Leslie. Thank you. Have a lot of fun.
