Jameis Winston's Surprising Pre-NFL Dream Job

What's up, guys? We are hanging out in the Young Hollywood studio with Jameis Winston, aka J-Boo.

Who first called you J-Boo or did you come up with that?

My dad and my mom. It was kind of like a mixture. My mom, she'd always call me Jay, and my dad, he always called Booty Bob. So I'm just like

So, I'm just happy they don't call me Jay Booty Bob. That's so cute.

Would like that. That would be amazing. Yeah. So, so J-Boo, it just stick. Yeah.

To be that successful this young. What's that like?

Uh, it's it's a blessing. I owe it to, you know, my parents. The way that I was raised, I was raised in the house full of my cousins. Like 20 of us. And uh, it's just a blessing that I'm one of the people to get out of that house. Every time I look back, you know, I'm just like, thank you, Lord. Oh, yeah. Yeah.

Do you feel the pressure sometimes to feel like you have to grow up faster or do you feel like, no, I can be 25 and feel 25. Or do you feel like you have to be more mature because you have all this responsibility?

Being a quarterback in the NFL is is challenging. Yeah. So, uh, it's a it's a certain level of expectations there. But at the same time, man, uh, I That'll be a blast. Yeah, I I love being 25. Uh, it's it's different now because uh, I'm a father. So, uh, that that makes you that makes you grow up real real fast. That makes sense.

Oh, being a dad, what's that like?

It's awesome. I look at my son. And the good thing is he looks like me or I have some questions for from my fiance cuz we got strong genes in my household. But uh, it's offseason. I had a chance to just sit back, relax, and just really watch him grow every single day. Uh, it's inspiring to me and it it just gives me so much more to work towards too.

I have to ask, do you want him to play football someday? Does everyone ask you that?

I I want him to do um whatever he he wants to do. Uh everybody always say, "Oh, that's another young football player." I I said, "No, he he's a doctor." Uh, don't don't put that on him just yet. I just want him to be happy, stay healthy, and uh just love life. That's good.

Do you think your life would have been different if you hadn't played football?

My dream job before football was actually to be a podiatrist.

Really?

Yeah, I wanted to be a foot doctor. Um because my dad, sorry, Dad, but he got terrible feet, right? Yeah. And my grandmother, she was a type two diabetic. Uh, so uh I've been with her a lot. I actually got a chance to sit in surgery uh with my dad when he was getting uh some corns taken off or shaved down by this lady named Cynthia Hobdy. And uh she was really my first uh role model. When I was growing up, bro, uh I was looking up like schools, just podiatrist schools, like I had looked up Berry University and that was in Miami and I was just like, "I'm going to Miami."

You're kidding. That's so interesting.

And then I'm going to go to podiatrist school at Berry University and I'm going to be the best foot doctor in the world because Miss Cynthia is a is the best foot doctor in the world. So, yeah.

How your feet doing?

My feet, hey, if I take these socks off right now, I got I probably got some of the best athletic feet you ever seen in your life.

And also, going back to football, you have a new coach, coach Bruce. How's it going?

It's exciting. Uh, it's very exciting just to be with with someone who uh I know believes in me wholeheartedly. And just funny story with him. My personal trainer for since I was 13 years old, and his son went to the same school. So, he brought him to a camp one year, when I was 13, 14 years old. And I got a chance to meet Bruce when I was 13, 14 years old, and he actually showed me his Super Bowl ring.

You're kidding.

Yeah, so uh I got a chance to put on his Super Bowl ring, and that was my first glimpse of what it what it felt like to be kinda not a Super Bowl champion, but to have uh a Super Bowl ring in my possession. So, things come around full circle. Now, I'm that quarterback who was at his camp playing quarterback. Now, I get a chance to play for this guy, and this guy who not only uh, you know, seen me play, but knew me as a kid.

And kids too, you have been working with a lot of kids for your youth camp. Does it remind you of yourself when, you know, they aspire to be someone just like you?

My whole thing is just pouring into them, giving them all I got so uh, so they can uh be all that they they want to be. That's good.

Okay, before we end the segment, I have to ask the most important question. What can you tell us about Princess Tootsie?

Uh, Princess Toots is my three-year-old Labradoodle, and I'll tell you right now, her and my son, Malakai, they are finally starting to hit it off. He woke up this morning and Tootsie walked up to his crib looking, he's looking down at Tootsie. She kinda helped prepare us for for Malakai, not saying that uh, oh no, Labradoodles are a lot of work. They have a lot of energy. And she loves attention, so she'll sometimes come put her butt right in front of my son's face. Uh, but we say, "Tootsie, get out the way." And uh, she straightens up. But uh, I love Princess Toots.

That is so cute. We'll have to get that video.
