You are like the guy that like we look forward to see because it's like we're in this beautiful setting and your music lends itself and you always bring you're like you're always instrumented up.

Oh yeah. Oh yeah. Well, that's that's the one thing I do good, so I might as well do it as much as I can.

So you've been playing around. I mean, you know, you have a new album Sugar.

Yeah.

With special sauce.

Yeah.

All back together.

Uh-huh.

Um, sort of give me a sense of you've just hit your 20-year milestone, sort of hitting that milestone. 20 years together for a band is like a married couple 100 years.

Yeah, it's funny like I remember about 15 years ago or something my much my drummer Jeff was said, man, the Red Hot Chili Peppers just have been together for 20 years and um, he was like that's crazy. And now here we are uh when what seems like a blink of an eye like, yeah, 20 years later it's, huh. That's fast. Yeah, it's funny cuz uh, just this whole life, you know, living on the road and um making music, it it it kind of drifts drifts by slowly but then you wake up one day and you're like, wow, we've been doing it for 20 years and it's uh, it's really just a a testament to, you know, we just have gotten so much love for and support from our fans and uh,

You have very loyal fans.

Yeah.

Give me sort of maybe like a great throwback story from back in the day with with all of you.

Yeah, I think the thing that just pops into my mind is like uh, just how unorganized everything was. I mean, we'd we play a town and uh, you know that we didn't have cell phones, there was no internet. Everything was just like thrown together it seems like. How did we live back then in those dark days? You know what I mean? There's no navigation. We would we would leave the uh, leave the gig at two or three in the morning and just drive into the night towards the next town. And be in the back of the van and I remember like, you ever like fall asleep in the car and have those dreams where you're getting in a car crash?

You don't fall asleep in a car and you're like dream like you're about to have a crash. Really? Is that what happens when you're a musician?

Yeah, and you'll be sleeping in the back of the van. It's probably 5:00 a. m. and your tour manager's going who knows where how God knows how fast and you just wake up like, oh my god, the impact, but you know, you're just driving but. And then we just try and get to the next some hotel and you pull into towns in the middle of nowhere and they be like, no, there's uh, you know, semi-pro wrestling convention in town. All the rooms are booked. Okay, drive to the next town. No, it's a knitting convention, you're like, dude, where are we going to stay, you know?

That's life on the road.

Yeah, it's uh. So a lot of running and um unorganized disorganization, so um, I'm glad that uh, we're still here and I and I still I say to this day, knock on wood. Um, I don't think I'm gonna die in a in some kind of traveling accident. Um, because I feel like that would have happened to me already. Well, this is um, this is one I've been I've been playing this every night as the last song of the set. It's the last song of the first record. It's called I Love You, so I always end it from all of us to all of y'all. I guess I'm lucky. Yeah, cuz it's in my blood, baby. I got you and us too. That's what I'm thinking of. Now you're moving into my place. That's a 24-hour taste. That's no can, that's a case. And this feeling I sure can erase. I know it sounds old, but I love you. I love you, baby. Yeah, I love you.

Fabulous! That's where you get the standing of the end of the show, right?

Yeah.

That's fantastic. Are you food obsessed? What food, a lot of your songs are about, I mean sugar obviously the name of the new album.

I am. Um, what it where does all that come from, all the food references? It's Sugar's the title track on the record and and that song um, and it's kind of a theme in the record is just about uh, you know, making it or striving to make it or just a pursuit of making music and continuing to do it. So that song itself is kind of a throwback to like, you know, there's a line on it kind of, I don't care no more what the people say. Lock me up, throw away the key. I'm down on the corner trying to sell my CD. And just saying like, you know what, I'm throwing my hands up, I work my butt off. Um, give me that sugar, you know, like give me that that sweetness that we've been working for, you know? Yeah. Um, so and then you know, you're trying to name a record and it's it's good to name a record after one of the songs and I felt like, wow, that's pretty cool thing to name it and um

I'm gonna give you something at the end of the interview. It's a great name. Hey.

Yeah, so we got Sugar. The funniest the funniest promotional uh packets ever, Sugar packs right here that has uh.
