So we're here at South by Southwest and you guys performed last night. How was that?

It was great. It's always uh you never know what's gonna happen basically. Uh there I think we're uh a bit cursed with the sound the the the uh the gods of sound at South by, something always a microphone cuts out and a string breaks, I don't know.

Now how many times have you guys been here?

Uh, I'd say three or four times. This might be our fourth time.

And it just keeps getting crazier every time.

Well, actually it gets less crazy as we're getting older. We kinda I just uh go to my room and watch some PBS.

Now your new album comes out uh self-titled Augustana.

Well something we were trying to do on this record was sort of uh bridge the gap that that I felt existed between our live show, which is a little bit more um sort of unpredictable and kind of uh spur of the moment um uh kind of mistakes but good mistakes. Like an example would be on our song Steal Your Heart, it's just the first vocal we ever did right after I wrote out some lyrics and you know, just kept the demo take and put it over the music, you know.

So how do you guys like stay in contact with all of your fans?

I'm actually social network free. I am uh I have I have no Twitter, no Facebook. But the band does have a Twitter and all that stuff, but I don't I actually don't run the the pages. Our bass player Jared does. Um he he he gets more excited about it than I do. So uh so if you're ever following Augustana on Twitter, it's actually not me. It's it's actually Jared.
