Hi, we're the Pierces and we're here with Young Hollywood at South by Southwest and this is our new single, You'll Be Mine.
We're gonna bring a blanket for the grass. Cover up your eyes so you don't see. If you let me come.
Kenzie here with YJN and I am hanging out with Miss Catherine and Miss Allison Pierce of the Pierces. Welcome to Austin, Texas, you lovely ladies.
Thank you.
Are you having a good time so far? The weather's kind of flirting with us right now. I feel like.
It is. It wants to see at my dress, I think.
It absolutely does. Oh that's that's intense flirting though. That is intense flirting.
It is.
What's on your schedule while you're at South By?
Um, what is not on our schedule? Barbecue eating. Yum. We've gotten started on that. We're doing pretty good with that.
Okay, good. That's awesome.
Yeah. We're doing a bunch of shows. That's cool. We're doing some little things like this. Yeah. So, it's gonna be fun.
We're all about staying on the verge of what's hot and what's new. Who are some people on your radar that we should be watching out for?
I've been listening to Jesse Baylin. Okay. Uh, she just put out a new record. Really good. Great record. Awesome. It's a very kind of island 60s California sound. With a little bit of country. Yeah. It's good. It's great.
If I found a way that I would make you stay maybe one more night, if you want to. If I found a rhyme then I would take the time and sing you one more night, then it would go like. God bless the world, it's so glorious. God bless the world.
We're gearing up for the release of your album, You and I. So you guys have worked with Guy Berryman of Coldplay. That's got to be really amazing to have somebody with such a huge name believe in you. How how does that relationship happen?
Um, we met Guy years ago just in New York City around town and he heard some of our music and really loved it and wanted to work with us at some point. We talked about maybe touring with him and um the years kind of went by and then one day he just called out of the blue and said uh, let's make a record. And it just happened to be the day after we had decided to break up as a band. So it felt like a sign.
From the Coldplay heaven.
From the Coldplay gods. To to stay together.
Um when you are related can you really break up or is it like?
Well, you can break up if you're in a band. Like you can break the band up. That's why we keep staying together. Cuz we're related.
What's coming up in the future? What else are you doing to promote You and I?
Well, we are going to tour with Coldplay. No big deal. I know. Um, we're gonna be playing arenas which is equally awesome and terrifying. Mhm. Um, what else? Our record's coming out the 26th. I think we might be doing Letterman. We might be doing Letterman. In June maybe.
What are you doing social media-wise keeping up with your fans and like how can fans stay in touch with you?
Um, we are delicately entering into the world of social media.
Well, you are.
You're not into it? I just can't. I can't get into it. I don't know why.
You have to You just have to like a mild phobia. You have to get in there and just go for it. Does it make you uncomfortable?
Yeah. I feel like it's, you know. I already have enough like already on my phone all the time anyway.
Oh my God, it gives you so many more things to do. Like checking friends pictures. Instagram. You don't Isn't it so much?
Instagram is fun. I do like Instagram.
It's got so lonely. I search the cracks in the ground, the tallest buildings they never knew. Oh, they never knew.
