Uh, I'm the singer and I play guitar. My name is Puki. I'm on the keyboards. I'm Jason, I play bass. Nick, I play drums. I'm Sean, I play guitar.

It's Michelle Marie. We are here in the green room with Black Cowboy at the pre-Oscar event for Global Green USA. A great organization.

Well, we've always been into Global Green because of, you know, their efforts in helping out with the environment. To help rebuild New Orleans. They're building green schools and green homes. We think it's very important.

I know you guys also are friends with Leo DiCaprio. He's a huge part of this organization too. How did you guys uh meet him?

Around the way, I guess. You know, things in common so we became friends.

You guys are compared to, you know, bands like Radiohead who I'm totally obsessed with right now and Coldplay. But I want to know how you guys really like to describe your music and your sound yourselves.

I don't know. There's elements of Coldplay and Radiohead, but there's like a Black Cowboy sound that's there. So, and once that's out, people start to become familiar with that. And then someone else will be compared to Black Cowboy.

Right on, brother. Right on, brother. You guys are definitely heavy, you know, with like the piano and the guitar and that, you know, the lyrics are really deep.

You know, we collaborate musically. And the lyrics, I guess they come from either experiences or ideas or just kind of thinking about, you know, different things that other people go through.

How would you describe the meaning behind your single, "Come On?"

Like love lost and realizing that it didn't need to be if you were willing to give what you, you know, should have given. And it might be too late.

Recently you guys did your music video. Tell us about the whole concept behind it.

I guess it's a love story. And uh, another friend of ours, Kevin Connolly, decided that he loved the song and he wanted to direct the video. When you see her in person, you understand like she's like a wonderful woman.

In the mid-90s, I know that you guys started writing music together, Jonah, you and Puki. What was the sound like back then?

We tried to mix Depeche Mode with uh, Marvin Gaye. We literally started uh writing music together at about the age of, you know, 13.

Wow. No. No. I thought it was three. What do you guys do before you go on stage? I mean, do you guys have any pre-rituals?

Maybe sip on a beer. Again, to head out. A couple of beers, but we, we can show 'em our thing that we do. I'm gonna get it in. Who are we? Black Cowboy! What are we coming here to do? Kick some ass. Yeah, let's kick some ass. Woo! Everybody, ready? The very first time that I saw your round eyes. But I was caught up in the core attraction, right? Much to my satisfaction.
