Yo. fm to Young Hollywood. What's up guys? I'm Tatian, hanging out backstage at the Avalon with The Sounds. So, we're backstage, you have a sold out show tonight, very exciting. How do you like performing in the US?
We love it here. Yeah. Yes, it's like our second home, you know. We've been here since 2003.
There's a huge line outside. People are coming to see you, waiting for hours. When did that hit you?
I think it hits me more when I go back to Sweden and do TV shows or I meet other Swedish musicians. That's when they come up to you and, "Man, I'm so jealous of you guys."
What do people, what should they expect from your performance tonight? Anything special?
I mean, we're gonna play a bunch of new songs from the new album. Um, and then again, I think people are here to have a good time and they know, every time Sounds are in town, it's gonna be a party.
How would you describe the sound of your new album? Would you say that it's similar to the past albums or it's evolved a bit?
Uh, we've been, I mean, the new album is doing more dance oriented, uh, a little more electronic influences on this one.
So what's the creative process for you guys? How do you come up with your new songs?
I think we're gonna write hopefully an album pretty soon because this trip has been pretty inspiring. That's one. We always say that in interviews also, there's no bands that really inspires us. It's always the people. And now when we went down to Mexico and you see how devoted us those fans are, and so passionate people and also here in LA. That's inspiring, yeah. Yeah.
So speaking of your fans, are there any crazy fan stories?
A guy and a girl, they met at our show, fall in love, and they got married and they had a baby and they name, named her Maya.
I also have a kid after me. You have a kid named after you? So. That is kind of a big deal. Kind of, yeah. I mean, you're the reason that there's a baby in this world, pretty much.
We even see many people that have had, you know, tattoos.
I was gonna ask that next, you know, if anybody that has your name is obviously tattoos. I love it, it's awesome. So many people out there.
I've seen this guy, his name is Dave. He has like my face is like bigger than my actual face is on his old, whole belly.
Did you see it?
Yeah, yeah, I've seen it.
Were you creeped out or were you flattered?
No, I was really flattered.
You know you've made it when people are tattooing your name on them and creating children because of you.
We don't see ourselves as, you know, this whatever, superstar or you know, famous people, like we're, you know, the same as everyone else standing outside, you know. We just happen to, you know, write music that a lot of people like and we're really happy that we're able to do that. Uh, so we don't see ourselves better or anything.
Well, maybe that's why you have so many dedicated fans because you guys are so relatable.
I think that's really important, you know, even for live shows, I, as a lead singer, I think it's important for me to make the audience feel like they're here together with us. It's not like the band playing in front of the crowd. It's like a band together with the crowd, we're gonna have a good night together.
Hey, I'm Maya. I'm Felix. And thank you so much for hanging out here at Young Hollywood. We love you guys.
