Taylor Swift's Road to Superstardom

Welcome to YoungHollywood. com. Hey everyone, it's Michelle Marie here with Young Hollywood. I am here with multi-platinum selling artist Taylor Swift. So it's so amazing that you're like the first number one selling artist beating out every other person and every genre for 2008. How amazing was that?

The fans have been amazing to me and I just I really couldn't believe that when they told me that. That's the one statistic about myself that I'm not going to forget, that they did that for me and I'll never forget that.

The first time I saw you is when you were nominated for a Grammy a year and a half ago and you went up and hugged everybody. For Best New Artist the nominees are: Taylor Swift.

Oh my God, I was so excited. I was 17 years old being nominated for a Grammy and I did not know what to do. I was just like what do you do in a moment that's like the best moment of your life to date? You hug people. So that's what I did.

Now your career is just at the height right now. How do you feel about all the success that you've had since then?

Oh wow, it's just been unbelievable. It's more than I ever could have anticipated for my potential. You know, I never thought that I'd actually get to go on a tour and say that I sold out Madison Square Garden and the Staples Center in two minutes. I know. It's like that that to me was something I thought was out of reach. So, it's just been a really really amazing summer that's proven to me that a lot of things I didn't think were possible really are.

Yeah, what's the best thing about being on tour?

The crowds. I'm addicted to screaming, so when I hear the people start screaming, it's like that's one of the coolest things.

As far as your iPod, anything right now that you love right now?

Katy Perry, I love her. She's awesome. I love her record.

Any gadgets? iPhone, BlackBerry, what do you love?

I mean, I have an iPhone, but I also have a BlackBerry too. So it's like you get the best of both worlds.

You gotta keep up with your fans.

Yeah, you do.

Twitter, all of that, right?

Yeah, I love Twitter and that's something I got on board with like six or seven months ago. So it's been really cool.

What kind of advice could you give to young aspiring artists that really want to get their music out there?

I'd say be nice to people. Be good to people. Um, treat everybody the way that you would want to be treated. And it seems like such a simple thing, but if you don't make eye contact and you don't smile at people, that leaves a bad impression. I remember the people back way back when I was this big, that were nice to me and I'll never forget it. So be kind to people. Thank you so much for everything you guys have done for me.
