Young Hollywood

It's Adam in the YH Lounge. We're about to pivot right now because we are joined by K-pop's most beautiful, Heejun. Hello. How are you, love?

Heyoon

Thank you for having me.

Young Hollywood

Thanks for coming in. How are we feeling today?

Heyoon

I'm just super happy to be back. I was in LA for a while and then I recently went back to Seoul, so, yeah, it's so nice to get this un in and yeah, be here with you.

Young Hollywood

Now we have pivot out right now. Tell me all about the pivot.

Heyoon

Well, it's my debut single, so it was a journey, creative journey putting it together. I have a new team and I am going through a very pivotal moment in my life right now. Not just career, like life, big life changes, you know? So what a better way to start on my new journey than a song like pivot, so.

Young Hollywood

I was mesmerized by the music video, your lucid dreams.

Heyoon

Yes.

Young Hollywood

So, I was uh tell tell me about that.

Heyoon

Um, yeah, I've been lucid dreaming since I was a baby. I don't even remember when it started, but I know it is a new concept for a lot of people, but it's basically you get to control your dreams, so you can create visuals in your dreams and I'm a very visual person, so for my debut project, I wanted to make sure I use all my creative senses and so for the music video, I actually lucid dreamed some of the big main scenes and then I put together the in between with working with the female director, Nia. She's incredible. So, yeah, it was a really fun creative journey for me.

Young Hollywood

I'm inspired right now. Tonight, when I go to sleep, I'm going to how do I tap into my No, how do I tap into my creative senses?

Heyoon

I know, like everybody's like, how can I do this? Like, I discovered it accidentally because I struggle with sleeping because you have to be in such a like middle state of not deep sleep and not like a light sleep. It's like you're awake but you're asleep kind of thing. So, in the middle realm, so it I'm obsessed with this. You can you can practice, but if you're a deep sleeper, good for you 'cause it's healthy, but it might be harder to

Young Hollywood

I love how you wake up and you have dance sequences. I wake up and I go, did I pay my rent?

Heyoon

Oh! No, it's not like every night it's like that. You know, like, I I choose my moments, yeah.

Young Hollywood

Now, when you get up in the morning, do you immediately write down whatever you may have dreamed the night before? I mean, it's

Heyoon

I don't lucid dream every night. You're like, what's it like having two lives? Like reality and then the dream life. Um, I now I'm at a point where I can kind of choose when I want to lucid dream. When I was young, it just happened. I don't do it too often 'cause it's like you don't get quality sleep, so you get really tired after. So, I choose my moments when I can, you know, go crazy in my dream.

Young Hollywood

Pivot, have you ever had to put the red light and uh decided to move away from a situation?

Heyoon

100%. I think it's something that everyone goes through in life. It can be not just relationships, in situations, like environments where something you love and you feel safe in doesn't feel like it's serving you anymore. I think all of us had that moment of like, you know what? I gotta tap back into myself and protect my heart and set boundaries and pivot is all about that. And I definitely had a moment.

Young Hollywood

How is the pivot being a solo artist now and leaving behind New United. Do you miss that?

Heyoon

I I have some things that I miss definitely, just like getting to travel with people that are sharing the same exact experience with me, right? But also, like, there's new things that came into my life because that's different from that experience. So, yeah, I can't complain. I'm so happy where I am right now and I get to still connect with the members. Like, they're genuinely family to me, so I'm grateful of the growth that we got to have together and a lot of the members are on on their solo journeys as well. So, we're just like cheering for each other right now.

Young Hollywood

Yes. I love that. And Armani White is on this track.

Heyoon

Yes.

Young Hollywood

How is that collaboration?

Heyoon

Yes, Armani's such a good friend. Like, um, he came to Korea a couple months ago and I got to see him perform on stage and we just like clicked right away. He's so chill and sweet and humble and we have so many things in common and I was like, this is so special to me 'cause it's my first single. I asked him and he was like, so down to do it. And yeah, he definitely brought in the energy and made it special. So, yeah. Thanks, Armani. Shout out to you.

Young Hollywood

You also bring the energy. The dancing also Jujitsu.

Heyoon

Yes.

Young Hollywood

If you can call it. How long have you been practicing, studying?

Heyoon

Um, well, dancing, I've been dancing since I was three, pretty much my whole life, but Jujitsu my choreographer/Jujitsu teacher now. She's also a movement director, a good friend of mine. We were brainstorming some ideas for the music video scene and I wanted to create the confusionness with me and my partner and we were like, how can we describe that using our bodies as expression, like as language? And Jujitsu came about and it was a whole new thing. It sparked definitely a new inspiration, like a new passion in me to learn MMA. Yes. Jujitsu MMA, you call it, like, whatever. So, yeah, I'm trying to tap into that world a little bit. You know, so fun. I love it.

Young Hollywood

Have you seen the sitcom Friends?

Heyoon

I yes, I have.

Young Hollywood

Okay, now wait. Do you remember who doesn't watch Friends? You know? We're still streaming. Do you remember the scene with Ross moving a couch

Heyoon

Yes.

Young Hollywood

In the stairway in New York City and what what does he yell? What does he yell? He tell me.

Heyoon

Pivot, pivot. Oh.

Young Hollywood

So, this is what I'm thinking. There needs to be a meme. Pivot, one of the most famous Friends scenes with your with your track. Where's our meme? Come on, UMG, get on it. You're like, no, Jujitsu.

Heyoon

Yeah. I'm definitely going to look that up though.

Young Hollywood

Give us a preview. What is the inspiration for the next single?

Heyoon

Oh, a little tease you're asking for here.

Young Hollywood

A little bit.

Heyoon

Um I can say that it is very energetic. Yes. And still sexy. Um, still a statement. I like to make statements, but it's more playful and energetic. I'm going to throw some words up there. That's that's all you get for now.
