K-Pop Group KARD Talk Tour, Dumb Litty, & What Artists They Want To Collab With

About this video
In the world of K-pop, entertainers usually come in three flavors: boy bands, girl bands, and solo artists. Rarely do you ever get to see mixed gender groups, which is one of the things that makes KARD so unique! Made up of two male singers (BM and J.Seph) and two female singers (Somin and Jiwoo), KARD is taking the pop world by storm with their single "Dumb Litty" and their 'Wild KARD Tour'! The foursome pays a visit to the Young Hollywood Studio where they reveal to us the meaning behind "Dumb Litty" and all the work that went into the amazing choreography for the music video! Plus, they explain why they no longer have any pre-show rituals, tell us what artists' DMs they would love to slide into, and treat us to a little on-the-spot rap sesh!

What's going on guys? Hanging with me right now, I have K-pop group KARD. Woo! Yay! Welcome to Young Hollywood Studio.
Thank you for having us. We're so excited.
I'm so glad you guys made time to come hang out today.
We just got off the plane just now. Um, thank you for having us, yeah.
Oh my god. How long was the flight?
Uh, 12 hours.
12 hours. We came straight from Brazil. Before Brazil, we hit uh Mexico and Chile, and we're here.
Well, first and foremost, congratulations on all of your success so far. You guys are amazing.
Thank you. Thank you.
You also look amazing. I love all the style going on. You swaggy.
Swag in? They gave. Swaggy. M.
I do also want to mention how cool it is that you are one of the only co-ed K-pop groups in the game right now. How does it feel to be a part of something like this? Being one of the only co-ed groups in this era kind of.
We were honestly like really scared before before our label told us we're going to debut as a mixed-gender group. I don't know, we seem to be doing all right, I think.
I would say so. Yeah. And also the fans, I do want to bring up "Dumb Litty." The fans are loving "Dumb Litty." So what can you guys tell me more about that? The process, everything.
That's a BM song. BM made it. It's the first song that was uh produced within the group. We wanted it to be kind of uh a response to to fans asking a specific question. And the fans, we get a lot of questions, but one of the questions was, what do you guys do when you guys are kind of stuck in like self-consciousness or like when you have self-confidence issues. And it was kind of like a reply to that question.
And all the dance moves? Insane. How long were your rehearsals?
The performance took a week.
Wow.
So we learned it and and and got it down in like a week and shot the music video right away. Yeah.
Thank goodness for editing, right?
Right.
And also, congratulations. Your tour right now. The 2019 Wild Card Tour in the US. So, what do you guys do before your shows? Like, do you have any pre-show rituals you can share with us?
To be completely honest with you, I think most of us are like asleep. Like,
Fair. Okay.
Yeah, if we're not getting our makeup done or getting our hair done, we're mostly asleep or eating.
Okay, what do you like to eat?
So, J. S. E. P says he likes to have a a cup of ramen to make his throat a little bit warm so he could uh do well on stage.
Do you have anything that you guys do together, like a little like saying or anything like right before you walk on?
We used to. Okay. We used to a lot. So like we kept doing like the little like the ritual thing until like I think like a 20th show, and then after that we just kind of like yeah, one guy's like waking up, one guy's snacking, one guy's just eating and drink, so we're just like, okay, when they call us, then we just go.
I do want to say, too, that you guys have a crazy amount of Instagram followers for the band, the group, and then also your individuals. So I want to know if you could each DM a celebrity or artist and say, hey, let's collab or let's hang out. Who would it be and what would you say?
Oh, that's a good question. I think right now, me personally, I would hit up Kehlani that day because she has the most amazing vocals right now and like, yeah, I listen to a lot of her R&B these days. And she's like, bae, so
She's bae.
She is bae.
Is that what you'd say to her? Bae. Hey bae.
Maybe not the first DM. Yeah. Maybe a couple DMs later. Warm up to it. Yeah, but she is super talented.
I agree with you on that.
Oh, she says Tinasha. Oh. She would want to do a performance with her because she's very good on stage and she dances as well.
I love that.
B E N Z I N O. Ben Zino. So there's a rapper in Korea named Ben Zino. And he would pretty much say, um, you're very talented, I look up to you a lot and I would love to collab with you one day.
Can you rap? Yeah. On the spot?
Ayyyy! Yes.
