I'm here hanging out with Jared Evan, artist that I've had on my radar for a very long time.

Now the first time I heard your name was through a good friend of mine, Taran Manning.

Paul Dondon was the one that helped produce uh in love with you, which is the single that's out right now.

You got me acting crazy.

When I first heard "In Love With You" when Polo first played me the beat, it didn't sound like it does now.

It sounded more hip-hop kind of, you know?

And but what he what we did on top of it vocally kind of just it it like was a jux position.

It it like it was rock.

It was it was a different it was a higher energy.

I mean it's just really emulates, you know, after meeting you, who you are.

The official video starts out with the first verse from a song called "Fourth Chapter".

Okay.

Which is actually the name of my album, my debut album.

Yeah.

Chapter one, I was a rock fan.

I knew the police before they had rock fan.

And then I heard Ringo in the Octopus's Garden.

So pardon, this hip-hop thing had just started.

Yes.

Now it's me upon the stage.

I took out my lead and wrote on the first page, like Jimmy, but John Bonham was my fave.

And there's no other percussionist that I'd rather be.

Now you've been creating a lot of buzz lately, and I know people have been saying that you're being compared to Drake because you're doing the whole hip-hop rap and then you're also singing, and then the falsetto.

I mean, you look like Justin Timberlake, obviously, like, you know, people are going to say that about you.

It's not a bad thing.

I mean, I know.

What would you say your whole sound is?

I know it's obviously a hybrid of different sounds.

My whole life I've just had so many influences musically like that just range like just so wide that when I make my own music, all of those influences kind of come out.

But I'd say that the the foundation of it is um, hip-hop, rock, and pop.

How did you develop, you know, when you were younger, uh the the mixture of sounds so I know that you were like, you know, rapping.

You started to rap, and it all kind of progressed.

So tell me that story.

I started as a drummer.

I was obsessed with bands like Led Zeppelin and The Beatles and The Doors and Pink Floyd and Jimmy Hendrix and Jethro Tull.

And I just started to experiment with all different kinds of music and get into all different kinds of music and hip-hop was one of those genres and it was like underground, pure hip-hop, you know, like Kool G Rap and Mos Def and Wu-Tang and Mobb Deep and Tribe Called Quest and just all those influences just just piled together.

Just it started to just build on its own.

What type of sounds are you going for right now with like N*E*R*D or I read also that you're working with the Game or the Game is going to do a rhyme on one of your tracks.

It's pretty crazy.

Yeah, I mean, you know, it's been dope.

It's like, man, I grew up on Pharrell.

Like he was he was my age now when I was 10, you know, and like, well, me and Pharrell did definitely matches the mold for the album.

It's it's it's just my main influences.

It's rock and hip-hop and soul just mashed into one.

Game wasn't supposed to be there.

Like he wasn't like, he wasn't like, it wasn't set up, you know, he came in to see Pharrell, and he came in and he listened to it and just pro bono just While he's listening to it, he's writing already, you know, he just took his BlackBerry out and started writing and so I'm like, dude,

That would be amazing.

I mean, yeah, there's Bieber mania, but what's going to happen when all the ladies start chasing you?

But uh, yeah, no, it's exciting, you know, I just uh to me it's really about the music and getting to know me through the music and, you know, anything that happens after that, you know.
