Hi, I'm Nia.
I'm Miranda. I'm Rena. And I'm Casey. And we're Hey Violet. And you're watching Young Hollywood.
Yes. Woo. So hard. So Hi. Hi. Hey, Hey Violet. Hi. So, I mean, I feel like there's just so much to talk about because can you even believe like where you are in the world right now of just like happening in your life? You have screaming, we're sitting at the Troubadour, which is one of the most iconic places in LA. Yes. Yes. Your hometown. You got screaming fans literally lining up, lining up around the corner right now. We traveled 6,000 miles from England to be here for the gig. It's gonna be a great night. And your your show sold out in minutes, right?
Yes. We did. It's really exciting.
What was the feeling of just when that happened?
We didn't believe that it happened. We thought it was a joke. We we thought it was like, we thought the computer crashed maybe and it said like, oh, sold out. Like it was a technical problem, but then they told us it was actually sold out and we're like, wow. Yeah. sorry.
And I mean, it just the whole, first of all, I'll talk about your your fashion because I feel very I just feel not cool next to you guys. No, but you look so good. No, but like the hair situation, like I'm so not on point with that right now. Like, look at I mean, can I just take I just I don't even know whose hair I like I want all of it. I don't even know what to do. Yeah, I think Casey I'm really boring. I'm really boring.
Yeah, we were just really going for something that stood out, you know, in crowds and Yeah, hairspray. Yeah. Michael's hair.
Do you like coordinate colors? Do you not?
No, no.
So you don't have any coordination.
Uh, no coordination. Usually, it'll just be like one day we'll see him and we'll be like, oh, you changed your hair to a completely different color. That's awesome. And then another day, it's like completely different and you're like, oh, again. Okay, cool. But yeah, I stay pretty consistent. He goes all over the place.
You don't give him advice on what he should do. You're not like, oh, you got you should do that.
I mean, I'm like you probably shouldn't be bleaching your hair that much. But anyway. I think since we've known him, he's had four or five different colors. Yeah. Oh. Yeah.
And you guys are but you stay pretty consistent with your own colors.
Yeah. I mean, well, kind of. I mean, I have like this patch of blue. She's she's so she's so proud, right? Can we go to close up on that? That is awesome. She's so proud of that one little patch of blue, but it looks really cool. I like it. Do the do the thing you do. Uh, okay, hold on. Like my butt hurts. One sec, okay. Or we'll squeeze. Can you even see it when I do that? Hold on. And then sometimes there's purple over here. I'm not sure if it's there right now, but And yeah, that's it. Thank you. That that's that's her signature move, by the way. On stage when she's doing that move, she's trying to show you the blue. That's how that's how she attracts people and she's just like, Hey guys. Hey. Like so close to my chest.
How did each of you like figure out your styles? Does it change or is it something you're just like? So in the morning,
in the morning, we look in our closets and we cry because we can't figure anything out. No, um, I don't know why don't you guys try? Miranda would know. Okay, Miranda will answer this question. Definitely especially like knowing knowing the sisters for so many years, like we've definitely changed a lot how we dress. Um, but I think we all kind of take inspiration from like magazines and weird people walking on the street and like, you know, we all have our fashion icons like mine are Gwen Stefani, Laura Croft. Can't you tell with the like the whole thing going on? No, uh, I guess um, I guess I agree with that. I just go on Tumblr and I look at all that stuff. I go on Urban Outfitters or Brandy Melville and I'm like, I really just want that and all the magazines. Basically, everything she just said.
You put weird stuff together.
Yeah. Yep. See, I'm not good at that. I like can't put weird stuff together. I want you guys to do it. You're gonna have to just do it for me.
We'll we'll put your next outfit together. Hire us as your style people.
Done. Done. I don't know. I don't know. I can I feel like I think I like your pants and stuff. Yeah. You look great. Okay. Well, I I feel more I feel more reassured when you guys tell me it. Okay. Firstly, your music, you just released EP.
Yeah. Yeah.
Yours I you guys are like the most badass people I feel like because like I just I mean your music is so like the punk rock like, how do you describe your style? Has it changed kind of throughout the whole process.
Like pop rock, I think. It's younger for sure. It's like it's energetic and it's uh just passionate. Are you feeling what I'm feeling cuz it's really feeling right. Don't wake me if I'm dreaming I can stay here all night. I can feel it. I can feel it. I can feel it coming true. I can feel it. I can feel it when I'm looking at you. Are you feeling what I'm feeling cuz I'm really feeling fine. Picking bottles on the beaches and we're hiding from the light. I can feel it. I can feel it. I can feel it coming true. I can feel it. I can feel it when I'm looking at you.
You know, where do you derive like your inspiration from? For for the songs.
Yeah, I guess um, I guess kind of from our own experiences. Uh, we enjoy um, going on drives and kind of making memories and just kind of draw from that. Uh, along with listening to tons of different music and kind of I don't know, taking like taking ideas from our favorite songs too. Yeah. A lot of the artists that each of us like are very, very different. So I feel like um, we'll get inspiration from some weird eclectic bands or from some really modern, like really well-known stuff. So it kind of goes all over the board for who we're inspired by most.
Right. And then you're headlining, I mean, you're on the tour with Five Seconds of Summer, which first of all I, how do you handle? I mean, they're they're the best. I interviewed them a long time ago and they are the coolest, funniest guys. You played like almost all your songs like new and old.
We we played all the songs. We um, because, yeah. We were just, I don't know. We learned a whole bunch of new songs and just played all of them and um, Yeah. Totally necessary. So we just we just kind of did it. Played all our pretty much all our songs we have learned. Yes. Yeah.
There has to be funny stories that goes on that go on. Tell us, tell us some for all the funny things. I got some for you. There are prank wars between the bands. I actually was gonna ask you about that cuz I did a fan told me like, ask them about the prank wars. So it's true. So what happened?
Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah. Okay, what have been some of the pranks? We have to go through Italian. Oh, no. Go ahead. Well, we filled their room with balloons and cups of water. Like all over the floor. Wait, balloons. Not water balloons. I think we got details. One room, we blew up this was a backfiring on because it we all were gonna pass out. We were all about to pass out like, oh my God, what are we doing? No joke. But we filled up like the whole room exactly with balloons. And then the other room, they placed very carefully cups with water like all along the floor. This close to each other.
Wait, they placed the water.
No, we we did. We did. where they were like, they literally couldn't walk in the room and we put all of their stuff on a on like a little table and way in the back of the room. So they couldn't get to their stuff unless they had to cross.
That's kind of amazing. Like, where I don't even know where you think, how do you think of that?
It's kind of a classic, isn't it? Yeah. That's classic. Google. The water cup one. Um, the boys also ended up pranking us back with TPing our last song of the set. They and their crew just like behind the backstage throwing toilet paper over the stage. I thought they were streamers. We thought it was like streamers or confetti or something. And we're like, oh, wow, this was unplanned, but it's really cool. And then we looked and we're like, it's toilet paper rolls. Like, ah, still cool. Still cool. They got it. They got it coming next. We got it. Yeah. And know we've been slacking.
Have you come up with some ideas?
Oh, we have a magician never tells her secret. We actually we actually do these um, acoustic hangouts where we get to meet like a lot of the the Five Seconds of Summer fans who've also like, you know, taken our music and everything and they'll bring stuff for us and it's really sweet, but one of the fans brought this giant prank book. Just full of ideas. whoever that was is a genius. So
That's actually really cool though. Speaking of acoustic perform. So you guys just kind of like do these spontaneous and all the fans just kind of come around.
Yeah, it's usually like before every show, we try and do an acoustic hangout and we just go outside and play songs and take pictures.
Awesome.
Yeah. And what's like been like one of the because the fans are they're crazy in the in an amazing way, right? They're They're passionate. They're passionate about you guys. Has there been any, I mean, of course, there has to be some crazy fan stories.
Wait, I actually have a really funny one in uh, when we were in Kentucky. We did the acoustic hangout and um, we okay, so we were playing our song. Was it you Don't Love Me Like You Should. And there's like an instrumental break in it. And I think it was Nia was like, there should be a rap here. And so someone starts breaking out into uh, the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air rap. And then the entire crowd just takes over and they sing the entire thing. We stopped playing. We just stopped. We stop playing and we're just like trying to sing along to it. Yeah. And we're then afterwards, we're all like clapping. We're like, you guys are awesome. And then then Casey was like, hey, you guys want us to finish the rest of the song? And they're like, yeah! awesome. That was probably one of the coolest acoustic hangouts. Yeah.
That's awesome. And you and you guys have been traveling the world. So has there been like a certain place that you love or anywhere that you haven't?
Ooh, that's really hard to choose. Yeah. Yeah. Um, I guess it's just like the fact that we get to travel everywhere and it's like a new experience every single day is just incredible to us. And we're so thankful for it. So I don't know. I can't pick I wouldn't be able to pick a favorite. Can I just say something though? Berlin had incredible vegan chocolate. I just would like to say that and I I really miss it. Yeah. There's lots of vegan food there. We go back to Europe. But there were so many incredible places. But it's also nice to be home. So you know. But you know. I like Europe, though. Yeah.
Yeah. And you guys you guys started so young, which is so, I mean, like I feel like when I, how old were you when you first started playing playing together?
10 and 10 months. Well, as a band as like as a band together. Yeah, cuz we all started really young. I joined the band when I was 10. Yeah.
So how did you guys all meet? Or you guys are sisters.
Well, I mean, I met her when she was coming out of the womb. Um, we go way back. Yeah. Uh, we met uh, I don't even know. How how did we meet Miranda? What are you doing? How did we meet, Miranda? Okay. We've been having some, you know, awkward band award goes to awkward mic situation. It was like a really hard decision of who was gonna hold the mic and who was gonna pass it. I just gave the mic to you. It was it was way too many. I'm doing a pretty good job. Here, take it back. Okay. Wait, we should we have an explained to answer your question. Uh, they were uh, just looking for band members and I uh sent in some videos of me playing. I was actually on vacation at the time, but I came back, had learned a couple covers and so we all started playing together. That's weird. No. And then we found Casey on the side of the street. That's fun. He was just fine. They were like, hey, you want to play guitar? And I'm like, sure. He doesn't even know how to play guitar. That's the best part. He has no idea. I can't play guitar. It's all smoke and mirrors. I just get up there and stand there like this sometimes with my hands up and it just go for me. He plays a killer kazoo solo. Oh man, you should hear it. None of this is fact. How do we make you hear that? Yeah, but actually they were just jamming with different people and I got invited up to jam with them one day and then they ended up they they ended up liking me for some weird reason. And so I stuck around.
How could you not like this kid? Can you imagine Casey doing a kazoo solo? I think you're gonna have to do that actually when you're one of your next shows now. Cuz everyone's gonna be watching and be like, we need him we need Casey to do that.
I mean, it's a cheap thing. I'll just pick one up. Like a buck. It's a cheap thing. That's not that bad. I have three of them. Why? Hit me up.
And then you guys you guys have a lot of pets, correct? Cuz like you're really into.
Yeah, I mean, technically yes.
Yeah, because you always like do a lot of social posts with like your dogs. Okay, so tell us about that.
Nia is obsessed with her dog. She's not obsessed. I'll show you. He's my. I'll show you. Okay, okay, if you insist, I'll show you a few photos. just like I do. I do. They think I talk to him. I talk about him like he's my child. I'm always like, I'm like, look at Edgar. He's so cute. Oh, look at he's so cute. You know those people.
What kind of dog is he?
He's a he's a miniature pinscher chihuahua mix. He's be cute.
You take him. So he comes on tour with you guys, right?
I wish he came on tour. Well, he'd probably pee. He's He's not well behaved. Yeah. But you know those people that will like show you pictures of their kids and you're like, I don't really care. How can you not care about her and I don't know. Then then Nia's like, look at this picture of Edgar. Then look at this picture of Edgar. Oh, look, this one's slightly different. I think they're cute. I think they're cute. I can't help the fact that he just takes my phone and takes selfies all the time.
So just like, what what can your fans look forward to because there's so much going on. You have you're on tour and then you just released EP. So what's like, what's next for you guys? You're gonna be seeing a lot of them. Let's just put that out there. Hey Violet is they're taking over the world. We're dominating.
Thanks. Um, well, we're working on writing new music. And like once we're once we're off this tour, we'll go back to like writing and recording. So yeah, new music and hopefully, we'll do some shows later this year because I am gonna be so stir crazy after tour. I know, we we we got a day off for like three days and we were all like, guys, we want to go out. Like, what should we do? You want to do an acoustic hangout? At the house? Yeah. For the dogs. Yeah. For Edgar. He'll be your audience. Edgar, the song's for you.
Oh my God, it was so fun talking to you guys. And you have fans who are literally like begging to get inside right now. So I'm gonna let you get to your show. And hopefully, we'll catch up again soon.
Thank you so much. Thank you. Thank you for having us.
