Florida Georgia Line Celebrates 4th Album & Talks Dream Collabs

What's going on, guys? Hanging with me right now I have Florida Georgia Line. How are you guys doing?

Hey. Doing good. Awesome. Happy to be here, that's right. We're at the Wiltern, a historic music venue and we're here to celebrate the release of our fourth record, Can't Say I Ain't Country. We got our friends Morgan Wallen, HARDY, RaeLynn, so we're throwing a big ole party and just excited to celebrate with Spotify and kind of bring this record release week to an end in a way, but also to new beginnings. We're excited to get this new music out on tour in June, so just super blessed and inspired and happy to be here.

But first of all, I do want to congratulate you on the fourth album, Can't Say I Ain't Country. So, how does it feel to have this out finally?

It feels amazing. It's been a long time coming for us. We've been in the studio working on this for probably a year and a half or so, which is the longest that we've spent working on an album and writing an album and singing an album, so it feels amazing. It feels really good. We really felt like we stepped our game up and this is kind of the strongest album that we've put out and we've really wanted the world to hear it for a long time, so to have it out, to hear the reaction. It feels really good, really rewarding.

I'm sure, and you guys have been huge for a while, but I think it's safe to say, you get just bigger and bigger as the years just come on, so even, you've been compared as the biggest duo since Brooks & Dunn. That's a huge title.

Think we still got a little ways to go, 'cause they're, I mean.

So humble.

Well, they're Brooks & Dunn. They kind of wrote the book on being a country duo so they're a huge inspiration to us and, I mean, we grew up on their music and it's a soundtrack to a lot of our good times. Still is, it's still timeless, so. Kix and Ronnie, they're good buddies and we love them and no, that's truly humbling to even be compared to them and we're just thankful people show up when we put on our shows and our tours and love our music and love our energy and love our families and love what we have to offer and also want to grow with us and allow us to be creative and true artists and not repeat ourselves and put out the same thing over and over, so it's just a fun time. It's a fun time to be alive.

(laughter) It definitely is, and you guys are huge collab artists, like you do such a good job at it. I want to know, if you could just slide into someone's DM, any artist, and be like, "I want to collab with you," who would it be and why, and maybe what would you say?

You think that's all it would take? Just a little DM slide? You're really not. That's a good idea. Always slide in the DMs. You guys have the little Verified symbol, you know who you are, yeah. That has never happened. I'd probably slide into Lil Wayne's DM.

He, so would I.

Just maybe write a song together. Maybe Bruno. Alan Jackson. Tim McGraw, oh we already worked with Tim McGraw. That was fun. Garth Brooks. Already did him too. That's right, we did work with Garth Brooks. Justin Bieber, we heard that name earlier, why not? Let's throw Biebs in the mix. Maybe slide into his DM.

Okay, what's your favorite Bieber song?

He probably wouldn't read our DM, I don't think.

Yes he would! Favorite Bieber song?

He's probably got a lot of DMs.

(laughter) He probably does. I like his whole last album. I think his album was next level and I didn't expect to get hooked on a Justin Bieber album, but I totally got hooked. I listened to that album for months.

Gotta go with Sorry. He was back in America's arms after that.

(laughter) Can I put you on the spot, just quick? America embraced Bieber.

(laughter) You're the musicians here, guys. Putting me on the spot. Well, I do want to point out, does this look familiar to you, specifically?

I didn't even realize that. That is Tribe Kelley, that's our Camden knit, yeah that's right. Shoutout Brittney.

So what are you guys up to when you're not working on music? Do you have any fun hidden talents?

Not too many hidden talents. You still juggle? (laughter) You juggle? I will say we just like being active. We're also entrepreneurs so we're always thinking of what's the next thing, where we gonna go, what are we gonna do. We got a lot of different little projects going on from our publishing company, Tree Vibez Music, to FGL House, our restaurant and bar in Nashville, to our Old Camp whiskey and BK and I are always kind of dreaming and scheming, so I would say on our off time we're just kind of thinking about what's gonna be next.

All right, fair enough, and lastly because you guys are pros at writing songs about love, I want to know, if you can just give a solid piece of advice, just love advice, to the Young Hollywood fans, what would it be?

Just be honest, and always be clear in communication. If something's on your heart, just speak your mind.

Or write a hit song about it like these guys.

Or write a song about it, there you go. That's right.

Do you agree with that?

I do agree with that, I do, and I would say a lot of great music comes from love and from inspiration from love so yeah, just let love inspire your life and don't be afraid of it.
