I think when it comes to being known for your music, it's such an exciting part of everything because you go through this whole process of writing music and getting excited about a certain sound and you know, your record, but then going into the release stage it's very scary and nerve-wracking because one you want people to like it. Also you want people to like you for you. So to actually have fans out there and for people to enjoy my music and to accept it, you know, it's amazing, especially coming out here to somewhere like the States. I mean it's so huge and so vast out here. So to actually have, you know, the feeling that people are enjoying it and just only just discovering my music is very exciting. It really is.

I keep going to the river to pray cuz I need something like a wash all the pain and I'm lost. I'm sleeping all these demons away but your ghost, the ghost of you it keeps me awake.

Hey, I'm Ella Henderson and welcome to my fan meet and greet at Young Hollywood Studios. This is my backstage diary. So we're about to go meet all my fans. I'm about to give them an exclusive performance. I cannot wait, come and follow me.

Well, my uncle, he used to watch her in the UK The Voice and then he showed her to me and I just really, really loved her voice. I love that she doesn't seem to let fame to go to her head cause she's, you know, just now cracking America and she's such a huge star over, over across the pond. Um if I could ask her any question, I guess, would you be my friend?

Exciting. We need to be really quiet cuz they don't know, they don't know that I'm here yet. They're here they'll probably think that I'm arriving a bit late or something like that.

I think as a British young songwriter to come out here to America and to actually, you know, travel the globe with my music. It's, um, it's definitely of the unexpected. And, uh you have to appreciate every second of it because not many people do get that opportunity, you know, I think there is that extra great feeling of coming from another country over here because it's that feeling of acceptance and it is really great.

Hello. Hey, everyone. It feels like school assembly. But no, this is cool. Um, um I had the odd singing lesson growing up and uh, a few piano lessons that I would never turn up to and my mum would be very angry because she was paying for them but, um I don't know, I liked to just do it when I wanted to do it and in my own time and my own way which is uh a bit naughty when you're growing up but yeah, um, I've always loved singing and I've always loved music and I've always known that this is what I want to do.

Yeah, this is my acoustic version of Ghost.

My family to me, you know, they're the people that have really put everything into me and really built my character and helped me grow and you know, the the amount of support and how proud they are of me, you know, that helps me every day and to know that if you know, my job and my career was taken away from me with a click of a finger I'd have people to run to and people who'd be there for me.

So I just wanted to know when you write songs like what is your process? Do you write the music first, the lyrics or like what do you do?

Um, with me there's no uh there's nothing that's set in stone when it comes to my writing. Um, I think everything's very mood led. Everything comes through from emotion so if I'm really angry about something or if I'm really sad in a certain situation or I'm really happy then that's the best time for me to go to the piano and start writing a song. I found that when I was writing chapter one that um at times I could feel very vulnerable in a studio surrounded by all different people and I want to talk about a guy and you know, yeah, things like that, you know, it's very weird especially as a young girl in the industry. It can be quite intimidating but once you get used to it you realize that the studio is your safe place. It's the place where you can, you know, nothing has to go beyond them four walls if you don't want it to and it was amazing once I realized that.

So I think overall the positive support from my fans overall, just globally has been incredible. But um I guess there is a slight difference when you come out to America. I love how everyone's so uh so loud and so positive. Um and I just love the huge extravagant exaggerated reactions when you walk onto a stage at times that's a lot of fun. Um and louder crowds that's a lot of fun.
