Welcome to Young Hollywood. com.
Hey everyone, it's Michelle Mari here with Young Hollywood.
I'm here with Colbie Caillat.
Your album is such a feel good album.
You make me smile.
Please stay for a while now, just stay it's alright wherever you go.
It just reminds you of positivity and good life and not about the negative.
So That's exactly what I intended.
So that's good to know that it's working.
Thank you very much.
You were the number one unsigned artist on MySpace, I got the most views.
How did that make you feel when you first heard that?
It was a shock for me actually because I my friend put my songs up for me and over about six months I grew a fan base so I didn't intend for any of it to happen, it just kind of happened.
So, the fact that I was number one, I I was just blown away and now I'm here because of all of that.
So.
So I know you grew up in Malibu.
Correct.
And your father was also you know, a producer for Fleetwood Mac, several other albums as well.
What kind of inspiration did you have as a young child from your father?
Actually, my dad's producing my record right now.
He's one of the producers for my next album called Breakthrough and I love working with him because he's honest with me, I know he wants the best for me and I know he has brilliant ideas that he's learned from the past 30 years of recording especially with Fleetwood Mac.
So it's sounding great and I'm so glad I'm getting to work with my father on it.
What are things that you can say over the span of your career that you've had that are the most memorable moments?
I got to meet John Mayer and go on tour with him and we worked on a song together.
He was a huge inspiration to me musically.
Being able to travel all around the world, I have fans in Brazil and Australia and all over Europe.
That's just I never would have imagined that.
For all those aspiring young unsigned singers out there that look up to you and say, wow, I can do it too.
What kind of things right now should they be doing to be getting their music out there?
Whatever you can, practice guitar or learn how to play it, practice piano, whatever instrument it is.
Learn how to write songs and just write songs that are coming from you that are from your emotions that people can relate to and it's an amazing feeling.
Just practice everyday, the better you get the better you are.
And I have to say you look great tonight.
The style is kickin'.
Thank you.
Actually the gold shoes.
Thank you, you know, they're really high, they're kinda hard to walk in but I love the dress.
Oh, and the ring is pretty too.
Ring is amazing.
Bling, bling.
