I'm here with Shay Lloyd and we're talking about food. I didn't know you were a chef.
Well, um, yeah, very much so. An amateur chef, but you're very, you're good. I think I am.
What's your favorite? What's your sort of go-to? If you're really going to impress somebody, what would be your like your best dish?
Roast potatoes. Oh. I make killer roast potatoes.
Really? What's the key ingredient?
The key to making killer roast potatoes is you don't over boil them. Okay. You parboil them. Okay. So they're still you know, not smushable. You don't want them to smush.
Okay. Not like Americans, we do the mashed potatoes. Like that would be bad.
Oh, yeah, but your mashed potatoes different to our mashed potatoes. Okay. It seems like Americans um, don't take the time to take all of the skin off the potato.
That's true. That's true. Why? Why?
Because I don't know, there's something about the crunchy on the outside. To me. Yeah. If back in the day when my mom used to cook me dinner, and I used to come home from school, if I found a bit of potato peeling in my mashed potato, there would have been World War III. That would have been it.
This is a great night because you are here. It's the Hollywood Rocks party. You just tweeted just one, I think it was one word, happy. Yeah. I mean, I know you have you have an album coming out. You're in America. You're performing here. Were you sort of referring to that or just in general?
In general, I'm happy.
You also tweeted that you're I think it was a couple days ago, you're in PJ's comfy watching Telly, which Yeah. We know is TV. Um, is that sort of like is that your way to unwind?
That is me. Completely me. Um, that's what I like to do. I'm not much of a going out person.
Right. Cuz this is a party. This is like the Hollywood Rocks party. So what is your party style? Like when you're at a party, are you the girl that sort of just sort of off to the side, just talking quietly or are you on the dance floor? What's your party style?
I'm on that dance floor. If I've made the effort to get dolled up, I'm getting on that floor. I came to party.
So your party, huh?
I party hard.
I love it. Okay, let's talk about your album. Yes. Coming out in May. It is. How excited are you? I mean, I've took my time, haven't I? Well, it's you know, it got pushed back and But how excited are you it's finally here? I mean, I've got to a point
Is that why the title is that the the meaning of the title?
Sort of. I feel like, I'm sorry, I'm late in the in the way that it's took me quite a while to figure out exactly who I am. And I think it takes every young person some time to discover who you are. Right. Um, but I'm majorly excited. I think the day that that the album drops, I'm probably going to be in floods of tears cuz I've waited so long. And my fans have as well.
How does that how is that? I mean, you've dropped you've had albums before. That the day that it comes out, is it anxiety? Is it just pure happiness? What is that feeling like?
I do get nervous. Really nervous. When I release anything, even when I do a photo shoot and the pictures go out, I'm crapping my pants. Because you just don't know. You don't know whether someone's going to be kind or they're not going to be kind. Right. But that's fine cuz I like a bit of criticism. But most of all,
Well, you said it.
Yeah. I like it when people say they love it. Right, of course. That's what I like.
Why do you like criticism?
Um, because it makes me stronger. Oh, most definitely. It's another lesson for you. Because I I take it in. I'm not the type of person to say, what? Really? They don't like it. I'm more like, okay, that's fair enough. I understand that that sort of person doesn't like my song. Um, I'm not going to adapt to them though. Sod off.
Okay, what app on your phone are you addicted to?
Well, obviously Twitter and Instagram. But um, most of all, and this is only during the hours of midnight to around 2:00 when I can't sleep because I'm crazy. Okay. Um, is Bubble Shooter.
What's that?
You just pop bubbles.
Um, Instagram. We were talking about Instagram. Do you have a favorite filter? Cuz we're all so obsessed with filters these days.
I don't know the name of it, but it makes you browner. I recently posted my no makeup selfie.
Oh, how did that feel? I've never done that before.
You should do it. It's empowering.
Really?
It is really empowering because the minute that you click send out, you think, yeah, I have just done that. And I don't care. And it's really empowering. You should do it.
Oh my gosh. But you probably look, I mean, you with out makeup. Nah. I don't know if anybody wants to see that.
Why? Not really. Don't really.
Well, there's you know, there's some people that are naturally without makeup, they're insanely gorgeous. And there's some people that need it.
Uh-uh. I'm a needer.
No way. So you wouldn't go to the grocery store.
No. Oh, yeah, fully. I just hope I don't run into anybody I know. Oh, I love it. I love the thrill of not having cake on me face.
Who would be your ultimate collaboration? I'm sure you get asked this a lot.
Dolly Parton.
Have you met her before?
No. What would you say? Could you imagine if I did? What I'd do? It'd be fantastic.
The conversation between you two, I can imagine.
I don't know whether I'd control myself to be quite honest. But that would be a good thing. I love it.
But that would be good if you didn't control yourself because she probably love it.
Yes. Hmm. I'm not sure about that. Um, but I I wouldn't I wouldn't obviously like get physical with her. I'm not going to go cray cray on Dolly Parton. Right. But I would just say to her how much she's influenced me. She's influenced me so much.
Oh, before we go. Rock, Paper, Scissors. Do you know this game?
Yeah, but I'm not very good.
Well, it's random. Should we do one to go out?
Oh, no. Yeah, all right. I'm just trying to think of a game plan. Okay. Ready? All right. One, two, three. Oh, no. My game plan. What did you throw to three? Oh, no. Who won?
I think I just won.
I am so loser.
Thank you so much. This was so much fun. I could talk to you all night.
I just get carried away with myself cuz I love a chat. I love a good chat. I really do.
Well, that's what I do for a living. It's amazing.
I love a chat. I'd probably like to tag along with you one day.
I would love to tag along with you. I would love to tag along with you when you meet Dolly.
Yes. Yes. That would be that'd be something else.
