Welcome to Young Hollywood. Hey guys, I'm Tatiana Diana, we're hanging out with Brian Greenberg. So we're here today for a very special reason. We're going to talk about your new album and your music, which I'm very excited about. I heard some clips. For people who don't know, they know you as an actor. Right. But you also, music is a huge passion to you. What made you take that leap from acting to music?

Well, to me, it wasn't really a leap, you know. I, I, I always wrote songs. And when I moved to L. A. , I needed something else besides acting to hold on to because there's so much denial and rejection in acting. And, uh, I just needed to focus my creative energies elsewhere when it wasn't working with acting and to keep me, uh, to keep me going. When I go from role to role to role to role in my acting work, I get a little burnt out. You know, but this way, I still can keep stay creative and keep both careers feeling like, um, fun and not a job.

What inspires you with your music?

On this record, I was going through a lot of changes in a relationship that ended, um, friends, seeing people's true colors, how that worked out. So my own personal life inspires me, but also sometimes the roles I play. It actually helps my character. Like, this one song on the record, uh, it's called You Can Run, and I did it with Kid Cudi on how to make it. Um, and, uh, that song I was kind of getting in the mindset of my character Ben Epstein. And, and just trying to get back at a girl that scorned him, and that's his reason for succeeding. So that was sort of the inspiration behind, behind that song. And, you know, my music, that's a, that's an example of how my music can help my acting and how my acting is helping my music. So they're kind of fueling each other.

That's pretty awesome.

Yeah, yeah, totally. It's like symbiotic relationship.

So, any other cool collaborations on your album that you're really excited about besides Kid Cudi?

Yeah, Kid Cudi, I'm really excited about working with him. That was a lot of fun. And, uh, this girl Carrie Ann Hearst, who, uh, is a, uh, indie alternative country artist out of South Carolina, did some, uh, some vocals on, on, on a song called No Kind of Friend. Uh-huh. So that was cool. So it's some, it is a very eclectic record. There's a lot of different flavors going on.

Dream collaboration, who would it be?

I'm just a huge fan of Noel Gallagher from Oasis. So I'd love to write a song with him.

I love Oasis.

Yeah, I love Oasis. And I'd love to do a duet with Fiona Apple. I think she's just so talented.

That is sick. Yeah, that would be my dream. If you could pick, because you're an actor, also musician, if you could pick between winning an Oscar or a Grammy. Which would it be? You can only have one.

Oh man. Oh man. I, you know, I hate that, like that's such a boxing question because, Look, I just, I honestly am not in it for those accolades and all that kind of stuff. Okay. But you're just saying, what would you be recognized? Yes. Um, I guess an Oscar, you know? Yeah. Yeah. Definitely.

And then you get the Grammy the year after.

Yeah. What do you think about that? Maybe the same thing. Maybe I'll play like a musician one year in like a movie and I'll, and I'll write a song for it. And then you'll get all of them.

Yeah, two in one. That's, that's the greatest win-win situation. That's the dream, right?
