Welcome to younghollywood. com. So we have Aaron and Thomas from Ghostland Observatory. We're here at the Sunset Junction Music Festival. Obviously, we're backstage right now. They're rocking out. It's live, it's live. This is very much real people. So we're hanging out backstage. It's a little bit loud. Let's go check out the rest of the scene. Let's go. Let's go. So we got to check out a little bit of the festival and now we're hanging out with your fans.

Aaron

Yeah. No, no, no. We've got we've actually got a really cool uh, group of glow heads that travel from city to city.

Young Hollywood

Wait a second. Let's pause. What is a glow head?

Aaron

Glow head is, uh, you know, like, you know, the Grateful Dead had Dead Heads. We've got, you know, Glow Heads. So people that are super fans of Ghostland that live their life by the gospel of the Glow. And uh, they travel from city to city, town to town and uh, come follow us and watch us.

Young Hollywood

How do you describe your sound to someone who's not a glow head yet and doesn't really know what's up with your music? How would you describe it?

Thomas

We don't really get into details. We just say, you know, it's like electronic mixed with like rock and roll and then just psychedelic. Yeah. And and then we just try to get just people in the door and then our show speaks for itself. So we really don't try to describe a lot of the words to somebody. We just show them.

Young Hollywood

How did you guys come up with your name, Ghostland Observatory?

Aaron

It actually had a lot to do with uh, things happening. I'll just give you the words and how they crashed together. Church of the Friendly Ghost, uh, the Ghost Sonata by August Strindberg, uh, Hubble Telescope pictures of the universe.

Young Hollywood

Are you guys scared of ghosts?

Aaron

I am. I'm not going to lie.

Thomas

No. No. It just it would just depend what the encounter would be.

Young Hollywood

Depends on the ghost?

Thomas

Yeah, yeah.

Young Hollywood

What ghost would scare you?

Thomas

An aggressive spiritual entity. Yeah. A dark one. A dark entity.

Young Hollywood

What would be your favorite ghost to bump into?

Thomas

I don't know. Just a friendly ghost.

Young Hollywood

Like Casper?

Thomas

Yeah. Yeah. Why not? I would like to run into Casper. I love Casper.

Young Hollywood

Any musical inspirations as you were growing up? Who did you look up to?

Aaron

Tons of people. I guess when I really started to get, you know, influenced by music was uh, when Daft Punk came out with Homework in 1995. That like kind of opened my uh, eyes to electronic music but I like everything. All kinds of stuff. Very experimental stuff to just like seventies gold to whatever, you know, not biased.

Thomas

I remember when I was like, when I was young, like nine years old or something. I used to go to dances with my sister. My mom would take me there and it's out in the middle of the country. I mean, you gotta imagine where I'm from, it's like, it's called San Saba, the small Texas town. And uh, we would be like at a dance out at this like park or something, you know, and Dr. Tunes would be spinning out there and uh, if he's playing Depeche Mode, Personal Jesus. And I always used to think that was a devil worshiping song, but I liked it for some reason. And being that young and I was like, I can't help it but I'm I like it. So I remember that very vividly now.

Aaron

Thanks for hanging out with us, Young Hollywood. It's been a blast. We're Ghostland Observatory. Peace.
